2015 Safety Calvin Brewton is one of the top safeties for the class of 2015 and is on a star filled team with the Miami (Fla.) Central Rockets.

“It’s very competitive here. They ranked us as the number two team in the nation this week and the competition at every position here is crazy. We always compete with each other, Dalvin (Cook) and Joe (Yearby) are always competing and the same goes with the offense against the defense.”

Brewton is excited to be a part of such a talented team at Central and spoke about one part of the team that isn’t heralded too often.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but are entire O-line is returning. We got Raul (Diaz), you have Michael Smith, Reginald Bain and Trevor Darling; all of them are D-1 players.”

Brewton also enjoys the fact that he no longer has to go up against the two Star backs on game day and feels that they make him better during practice.

“I think they get me better everyday because they know that I can be one of the best safeties next year in the nation. They want me to be the leader for next year when they leave. It’s crazy to see both of them in the backfield, especially when Joe (Yearby) gets at quarterback.”

When it comes to recruiting, the 6’1 185 pound safety has quite the list of schools who are in contact with him.

“The recruiting process has been going good for me, I talk to UCLA, I talked to the Rutgers coach, Louisville, UM, Florida State and I’m also receiving mail from all kinds of schools.”

Brewton is in regular contact with the Miami coaching staff and is also planning on attending the Al Golden football camp this Satruday.

“I’m looking to turn some heads out there, because I know all the coaches are gonna be watching.”

The Central Star safety is also eager to work with Miami’s defensive backs coach Paul Williams.

“By watching UM play last year and this years spring game I can tell he is a good coach. I see Deon Bush, he is playing on a complete different level compared to when he was in high school and to me I think he could be a first round pick.”

Brewton does admit that Miami would jump up his list of schools if he were to receive an offer.

“They would be one of the schools on top of my list. That would be a big time offer because it’s home, you got Deon Bush there, who I look up to. It would be big time.”

Legit. Hope he chooses to stay home next year. No doubt he gets an offer in the long run.

I really like Brewton. Don't be surprised if he emerges as one of the top safeties in the country next year. Very impressive size and overall skillset.
