@SFHSSports: Just talked to @PowellBp4 - Kid grew up a FSU fan, but opportunity to win a championship in his hometown too good to pass up!!!

@SFHSSports: Just talked to @PowellBp4 - Miami will play him as a RB. Wanted to play position. Tenn. more of slot. Academics also huge. Business major.

@SFHSSports: Just talked to @PowellBp4 - Loves coming in w/ Yearby. "Just means I have to work 10 times harder. It will benefit us more. Make us better."

@SFHSSports: Just talked to @PowellBp4 - Can see himself being used as RB and slot. Lining up against WR's. Creating mismatches. But playing RB was HUGE!

@SFHSSports: Just talked to @PowellBp4 - Started thinking Miami after 1st visit after offer. Long talk with Hurlie Brown. 2-3 hours.

@SFHSSports: Final thoughts on @PowellBp4 - Gets to play RB, gets to play close to family, gets a great education. Doesn't mind competition = Miami!!

@SFHSSports: RT @CanesInSight: @HurlieB is one of the best recruiters in America. He wanted Brandon Powell and got him.->-> Both Powell and dad credit HB

@SFHSSports: last thing on @PowellBp4 - Kid came to the @CVCDCamp while committed to Tenn (no need to impress) just to honor @larryblustein. That's BIG!!

I've noticed recruiting stepped up a level once Hurlie hit the road. When Coley's takes HC or NFL OC job in 2 or 3 years, Al has his replacement in training already. Hurlie is growing into recruiting beast. Al has golden eye for coaching talent.

You guys better stop gassing up Hurlie before n $EC schools swoops him up!

How about that first tweet?! Love it and goes to show how the image for these guys is changing down here! Win like expected and this cements The Don's message to recruits down here. Great job by this staff, relentless

Still laughing at all the people that criticized the Brown hire. All the whining of "how come we didn't hire one of the SFL high school coaches."

The man is putting in work!!

Welcome to the U Powell!

Hurlie Brown cried when Al Golden offered him the chance to become the Hurricanes’ running backs coach.

Since Brown was bitten by the coaching bug as a UM graduate assistant in 1992, his professional goal was to become an assistant coach at Miami.

“I had tears in my eyes when he offered it to me because it was a dream come true,” said Brown, a hard-hitting safety for UM from 1988-91 who won two national championships with the Hurricanes. “I’ve been working the last 20 years to be in this position and now I get a chance to do it.”

“I’ve been working since 1993 to come back to the University of Miami as an assistant coach. Everything I’ve done is with that in mind. I’ve always had a purpose and that was my purpose. To me, this is a dream come true. I must be the happiest man in the world to be back at the University of Miami, coaching at my alma mater with these guys and this staff.”

Hes not going anywhere. He could also coach linebackers or DBs in the future if we needed him too.
