I think you guys are taking the "rotating safeties" thing too serious. If there is one thing we should have learned by now about Manny is that he nor his staff give out any information regarding starters/backups/whos playing and who aint, etc. They keep everyone guessing. The only time Manny "let us in" was when he was asked would he play 2 QBs this year and he said "No" which was the obvious answer.

Like one poster said, Quan and Redwine got the 99% of the snaps at safety. Hall hardly played at all. Knowles too. And I never saw Derrick Smith. Banda will play the 2 best guys and have a 3rd on deck if one of them needs a rest. Period.

"He’s demanding, he’s detailed, he just pushes, expects the standard of Miami to be the standard in everything, from the person who is dumping out the water to Dan Enos to myself to coach (Blake) Baker, calling plays, to anybody,” Banda said of Diaz.

The quote pretty clearly shows his reference to calling plays is in regards to Blake Baker--the defensive coordinator. Banda is not calling plays.

No bro. That’s an inclusive statement. My guy is saying he will call plays too. Don’t try to talk me off this ledge. Lol

I can’t lie. I really think he isn’t qualified to be at Miami. Sorry. I just really don’t like him or our Striker (has been LB) coach. The moment he mentioned RK, I felt compelled to tell him we’re watching on Twitter. 😂
Other than Rob Knowles what makes him under qualified from what you have seen while he has been here?

We’ve had boundary issues, we’ve had LB issues, we’ve had DL issues. Since Banda been here the back of the box has consistently been the strength of the defense. Whether that was
Banda didn’t mold any of those guys. He came into a situation with a talented room. Every safety drafted was 2nd or 3rd player when he got there. If he’s making statements about rotating 6 days into camp than that’s not great distinguishing as a coach. I don’t believe we have 4 starters
He had Quan and Red for 3 years. Thats **** close. And I agree with you on not having 4 starters. But we have a lot of talent that can help when Carter or Hall are gassed or if they move one of the two for striker or if we go to a 3 safety set. I agree play the best players first, but you gotta get the other guys ready too and use them if they are as good as Derrick Smith has looked in camp or if they have pedigree like Keontra.

Look I'm not saying we can't spell a guy on a long drive. If a guy has a couple long sprints on deep ball coverage and needs a breather that's understandable but rolling players to stay fresh as a daisy just isn't the way that position is managed even if you do have four capable guys.

Someone is going to step up and whoever that is should be getting the majority of the snaps. It's nice to have four guys that wont hurt you but it's much better to have guys back there who wont hurt you and can make game changing plays. The play makers should play the majority of the snaps.
Bro you said what Im saying but better haha. Gotta have competent backups. But just like last year, where Red and Quan dominated snaps the best players ill be on the field the most.

Is the guy dumping out water calling plays, too? Forget how it was written. Think about how he spoke it and the fact that there has been no indication that Banda is calling plays. If you're on the ledge it's for some masochistic reason.

We have rotated at least a 3rd safety every year they have been here outside of 2018 which we didn’t do often after the first few games.

In 2016- Jamal and rayshawn were the main guys. Jaquan played quite a bit (38 tackles 3 tfls 1.5 sacks 1 int that year)

2017- redwine and Jaquan were the main guys obviously but Amari carter played(26 tackles) and knowles (18 tackles), Derrick smith 13 tackles.

2018- redwine and Jaquan were again the main guys with gurvan Hall playing the most games after them.

We don’t have an established guy so I have No problem with it(outside of knowles) in terms of rotating guys early on to see who can be the guy at those 2 spots. We have a lot of talent at the position so let’s see what happens

Banda was never qualified to be offered the job at MIAMI, IMO. Just like Pak and Richt’s son should have never been hired. Just my opinion, I watched a couple of drills Banda runs, and I swear he’s lucky he has Miami athletes. There was no attention to detail. They were actually just standing still and breaking on a simple route they knew was coming.

We have consistently produced a top 10 TFL, Sack and pressure team since Manny arrived. The DL play is fueling the defense. The Safeties are not. We’ve had plenty of busts back there. No Gap gives our Rush D issues (IMO) - and poor Car Wash LB coaching hasn’t helped. But, when Manny ran a good dose of zone the previous years, we would get scalped because our LBs and Safeties were out of position, AND we weren’t rerouting.

When we started play more man, we took pressure off of the Safeties and improved the Pass D dramatically by allowing our Corners to press/man up. That’s how I see it.

The Safeties are benefiting from the scheme. And Banda is the ultimate benefactor IMO.

I don’t think he’s a Stoops Level DB Coach. Not close. Stoops could coach DB anywhere and develop. Banda is blessed to be at Miami.

That's poor coaching IMO.
If you played D Smith and Carter more in 2018 (or just as much as 2017) they would be much more experienced this year and be ready to take over.
They would be able to play full speed knowing exactly what they are doing.

This has had me wondering. I believe Felder came with Richt from Georgia. So it’s hard to reconcile that there would be such a disparity between a long time strength coach at a high level SEC program and a guy from Temple.
Maybe Felder was past his prime (some said that about Kehoe ) or for whatever reason just not into it and / or maybe Feely is that young energetic innovative coach that we needed.

Maybe Georgia had a better "supplements" program going. Who knows. It's weird.

If you got this many guys to rotate is bc you really have none imho and/or you can’t coach well enough to make a distinction on whose the best. Imho is moreso the latter...Guys have to get a flow for the game..the lore they’re in the game, the more their film work preparation kicks in bc they’re in the flow of it.

Banda still mentioning Robert knowles as an option.
You doubting his coaching hes did it w Jenkins and Carter then Johnson and Redwine? Why cant he do it w better athletes? I agree with the flow but thats why i said a "high standard" if theres no dropoff you rotate and keep guys fresh. I mean we saw Amari on the field with Jaquan and Red last year why cant we see that again this year?

Elite programs have great backups to the starters. Starters should be able to play free and not worry about making mistakes or looking over there shoulders to rotate. You have to gain chemistry and feel for the game in order to make plays. Top programs don’t rotate guys on the backend, only D line should be rotating like that.

Pretty sure clemson rotated guys all over last year, but I only watched a few of their games.

I worked w the football team filming practices and filmed Bandas group quite often he's extremely detail oriented and is hard on his guys. Hes got all 4 of his starting Safeties drafted i have no idea where you get these things from

Between this post and labeling my post about too much rotation being ‘dumb,’ seems like you’re bothered by the idea of challenging some of Coach Banda’s moves. Would be interested to hear what you like about significantly rotating Safeties. I’m not in the ‘Banda sucks’ camp, to be clear. I’m in the ‘rotate less’ or limit it in meaningful games and situations unless our backups are nearer to our starters’ levels.

It's completely obvious what he's talking about. Banda expects to be up by 21 by halftime, then rotating in the backups to get them more experience.

He obviously knows who the starting QB is and how punishing the offense will be.

There is nothing more valuable to a defensive player than game-time reps. Developing sight recognition is invaluable and the best way to do it is by getting reps, real game reps. Anyone arguing against Lu's point has either never played on that side of the ball or is just, well, I won't say it...

Go Canes!

Because if we have 4 guys who can play then guess what? 4 guys will play. Its not a hard concept and I never spoke on "significantly" rotating safeties I said if we have 4 guys who can play to a high standard then theres no reason to not play them. I find it funny people try to talk down on his resume when hes literally sent the only 4 guys hes started to the league. In my post i give an example of us using 3 safeties at once so why is it rotating an issue?

You can look up and down Top 10 teams in nation secondary coaching and you won’t see this much indecision or a coach come to conclusion about rotating after 6 practices. From a mental standpoint and former football player. A coach talking about rotating to the media just doesn’t put your starters at ease going into a huge game.
Pretty sure clemson rotated guys all over last year, but I only watched a few of their games.
clemson started the same guys all playoffs and regular season. 3 are all

Clemson had the same four guys start the season. No changes in secondary. 1 just got drafted in Trayvon Mullens, but AJ Terrell, Wallace and other safety all were the same. You have to buiid that communication and I agree with competition totally but it’s to early in camp to talk about rotating as a coach. You haven’t even played live scrimmage yet.
