Al Blades, Jr. commits to Miami

Miami officially welcomed a key member to the Storm 18 class on Sunday afternoon as Al Blades, Jr. announced his decision to become a Hurricane on Father's Day.

Blades, a four-star defensive back prospect from St. Thomas Aquinas HS, was long rumored to be committing to Miami today as an ode to his late father, Al Blades, who played at The U as well as his uncles Bennie and Brian.

He announced his decision with this post on Twitter:

Blades joins a loaded Canes DB class of safeties Josh Jobe and Gurvan Hall, and cornerbacks D.J. Ivey and Gilbert Frierson. Blades is being recruited to play corner at Miami. He is the 18th commitment in UM's 2nd-ranked class on 247sports.com.

I believe he came to UM as a safety and during camp he was changed to CB

I was going to go with Ivey, but after watching Blades daddy he got a lot to live up too. Plus his uncle's!!

I'm hoping blades is a kid who translates better in college with more coaching and scheme

It doesn't bother me if he isn't the "starter"

Blades is a way better cb prospect than Samuel and surtain. Samuel is too small to be an every down cb and surtain is a safety all the way.

I wouldn't say way better, there is a reason why Surtain has been the highest rated CB in this class for about two years now. As far as Samuel being to small, how do you feel about Bandy playing for us?
