University of Miami men's basketball sophomore guard Acaden Lewis was named one of 20 players on the 2027 Bob Cousy Award Watch List, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Monday.
The annual award, now in its 24th year, recognizes the top point guard in NCAA Division I men's college basketball and is named after Hall of Famer Bob Cousy, who starred at Holy Cross and with the Boston Celtics.
Lewis enters his first season with the Hurricanes following a standout freshman campaign at Villanova, where he earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors and was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
The Washington, D.C., native averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while starting all 33 contests. He established Villanova freshman records with 176 assists and 63 steals, becoming the first Wildcat to average at least five assists per game in a season since 1998-99.
The 20-player watch list will be narrowed to 10 candidates in February before five finalists are announced in March. The finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee, which will determine the award recipient. Fan voting begins Friday, Oct. 30, and will take place during each of the three rounds.
Lewis and the No. 14 Hurricanes open the 2026-27 regular season Nov. 2 against No. 1 Florida in Tampa. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
