5-star WR Calvin Russell sets commitment date; Miami set as a Finalist

Five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell, who received an offer from Jai Lucas on the basketball side a couple of weeks ago, has now set his commitment date for July 5.

Russell is considering Miami, LSU, Florida, Michigan, FSU, North Carolina, Oregon, and Syracuse.

Russell is a five-star prospect from Miami, Florida, standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall. He plays for the Miami Northwestern team, which won the Sunshine State 3A title under the guidance of former NFL quarterback and current coach Teddy Bridgewater. During the season, Russell caught 39 passes for a total of 704 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, in addition to running for 2 more touchdowns. In the championship game against Jacksonville Raines, he recorded 4 receptions for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Russell is ranked as the 21st player in the nation, the 3rd among wide receivers, and the 2nd-best player in the Sunshine State.

Russell is currently visiting LSU and is also set to visit Florida State next month in June. However, he doesn't have a visit set up with Miami just yet.

The versatile athlete, who plays in both track and field, has received basketball scholarship offers from schools like Michigan, Illinois, LSU, Arizona State, Penn State, FAU, and Tulane.

Can the Hurricanes land one of the best receivers in the Sunshine State? We shall see very soon.

Syracuse is 6-6 type team this season.

They lost a lot, and have a much tougher schedule.

some sites had Jojo as a 5 star. Josh Moore has crazy upside, we shall see if he reaches his potential. im high on Toney.

Yea there’s good talent in that room, Yea it’s missing a top end elite 5star WR1 but it’s one of the better recruited positions on the team overall lol..

Looking forward to him de-committing and committing about two more times before signing day. There is no way he plays all 3-4 years at Syracuse.
He took a bag from Syracuse not an SEC school, he ain't going there.

All that said, Syracuse might be one of the most depressing mid cities in the country. Forget the weather three quarters of the year. Lived in the area and speak from experience. It’s a dumpy place you run from, not to.

Don’t think I remember Bama/Osu make a serious push for him and LSU reportedly dialed back their pursuit ..he def has a high ceiling in football tho but he’ll have to let go of bball to reach his true potential.
