Back to the recruiting board the Hurricanes go.

Mario Cristobal and his staff picked up some big-time recruiting news as five-star safety Honor Fa’alave-Johnson has trimmed his list down to six schools, and Miami is still right in the mix.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety out of San Diego (Cathedral Catholic) told On3 his finalists are Miami, USC, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas. No commitment date has been set.

His offer sheet is loaded. Honor holds offers from Alabama, USC, Arizona, Miami, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Cal, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas, Notre Dame, plus many more.

Honor is ranked as a top-20 prospect in the 2027 class, coming in at No. 16 nationally. He’s also rated as the No. 1 safety in the country and the No. 1 overall player in California.

As a junior, he stuffed the stat sheet while leading Cathedral Catholic to an 11-3 record and a trip to the California 1-AA state championship game. He carried the ball 150 times for 1,532 yards (11.9 yards per carry) and 23 touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 564 yards (16.1 yards per catch) and seven scores. On defense, he added 40 tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble. He was named the **** Silver Pigskin Player of the Year.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USC is currently the favorite, holding a 63% chance to land Honor, for now.

It's nice to see that we're in the mix for all the top guys. Means inevitably some of them will end up here. Wasn't long ago we' dbe thrilled to just see a guy like this mention UM, knowing he likely would never come here.
