Jai Lucas is going after big fish—and when I say big, I mean big fish.

The Miami coaching staff has been in heavy contact with Dylan Mingo, one of the nation’s top-ranked combo guard in the class of 2026. The five-star prospect told KayserHoops that Miami is among the schools recruiting him the hardest.

Mingo also mentioned he’s being heavily pursued by North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma, Missouri, and UConn.

Lucas joins a growing list of programs that have offered the New York native, including Alabama, Cincinnati, Dayton, Florida State, Illinois, Louisville, Missouri, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Providence, St. John’s, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and Washington.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard plays for Long Island Lutheran and is currently ranked No. 7 nationally, the No. 4 combo guard, and the No. 1 player in New York, according to 247Sports.

Mingo put together a strong junior season, averaging 14.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while helping Long Island Lutheran finish 22-7 in 2024–25.

This kid is the real deal. Was hands.down the best player at the NBPA Top 100 camp a few weeks ago. Him and his brother gave Columbus the business back in December.
