You know the stats, the yards, the touchdowns, the highlight reels. Sure, they’re impressive, but they don’t tell the whole story. If you want to know more than just the numbers? let’s dive in to five fun facts you need to know about Miami’s new QB.

Let's get it!

1. He was a legit multi-sport athlete before football took over

Before Darian Mensah was racking up passing yards, he was a two-sport kid out in California. He played football and basketball at St. Joseph High School.

When he first showed up at Tulane, one of his coaches joked that Mensah had the “basketball walk” — and if you know, you know.

2. He didn’t fully commit to being a quarterback until later than most

Mensah wasn’t one of those kids getting QB lessons at age six or flying around to camps every weekend. He bounced between sports and positions for a while and didn’t fully lock in on quarterback until later in high school.

That’s part of why his game still feels like it’s growing. He’s adding stuff now that a lot of quarterbacks already had figured out years ago, and it shows, and been showing.

3. His twin sister is also a Division I athlete

Athletic genes run deep in the Mensah family. Darian’s twin sister, Grace, went on to play college soccer at Oregon.

Which probably means growing up in that house wasn’t exactly laid back. And also, she could possibly join him at Miami?

4. He doesn’t eat before games… and he vibes differently too

Mensah isn’t touching breakfast before a game — no pancakes, no eggs, nada. But that’s not all. While most players are blasting their “pre-game hype” playlists, Mensah goes in a completely different direction.

When asked what he listens to, he said:

“Vibrational frequencies… It’s like a noise you listen to, like a constant ringing. It’s like calming music, I guess.”

So yeah, while the rest of the team is getting pumped to Meek Mill, Drake or Travis Scott, Mensah is out here zoning into cosmic calm. Weird? Definitely. Effective? So far, yes.

5. Went from Dodge Charger To Mercedes

Mensah went from sharing a 2013 Dodge Charger with his sister Grace in high school to rolling up in a Mercedes now. And yeah, he’s got the house and a Rolex to match, he even flexes it on his YouTube channel.

LMAO @ the Tulane coach telling him he had a basketball walk

If you watch the video, he literally says he’s always been a qb, since like 2nd grade. And he goes on to talk about his HS quarterback coach… sooooo, not sure all those fun facts are accurate.. just thought you’d want to know. 🤷‍♂️
