Is it me, but it appears this staff give up a little too easy w top prospects?

I mean, y can’t they not put all their eggs in one basket, while still being aggressive w top talent?

It’s either they put all their eggs in one basket and find their dyck in their hands in the end or they just simply give up early.

I didn’t follow UGA recruiting w Richt there but it seems he didn’t follow this formula there. Could it be recruiting So Fla has gotten him snake bitten?
It’s definitely becoming a pattern

It's obvious the staff has cooled on the kid. Maybe they feel they're too far out of it? Maybe he asked for "favors" that they weren't interested in offering? There's got to be some reason why they cooled off on a kid they were really high on earlier. They didn't just forget about him.
That’s the kind of stuff fans don’t know, so we just assume our coaches quit too quickly or don’t know how to recruit. All we ever hear is the recruit’s side, and 18 year old recruits have been known to lie a lot.

If we cooled on him, which we apparently have if we believe Davis, then I’m sure our coaches feel like they have a valid reason. We’ll just never know it because they can’t tell us.

An Analyst or GA at a D1 program ain't cleaning jock straps

You have no chance when a recruit says "he thinks" his position coach will be a good one as he said about Patke.

My initial reaction when I read these statements from highly ranked recruits is that we are dropping the ball in some way. I have come to the startling and uncomfortable realization is that I was goldenized to a certain extent, as much as i would like to deny it. The irrational fear is that we will never be able to assemble enough talent to take back what should have NEVER been lost. Today i get to balance these thoughts with facts:

1. Never take what these kids say about our recruiting efforts at face value, they have too many agendas.
1a. We did not have the best access to issues such as grades, character, bag game, and interest.
2. We have for the most part a competent head coach and coaching staff.
3. We are starting to see our roster dotted with and recruited for old school miami calibre talent.
4. We have coaches that take the right chances on kids that might not have the right amount stars behind their names.
4a. Those results are solidified in the names of the likes of Jackson, Garvin, and Smith.
5. We have even more to look forward to when the rest of the college football world gets introduced to not only our highly rated talent, but to guys
such as Ivey, Wiggins, Rousseau, Williams, Perry, Joyner, Ford, etc...

We not begging nobody to come here. Also, this staff is big on getting guys in with winning minds. So if he doesnt fit what they're looking for, NEXT! We got our linebackers in anyway, dont forget about joyner for this class as well.

And let's not act like UGA didnt just have roquan smith balling like a mad man out there. If you tell and show recruits that/him as of right now, advantage UGA!

I do not get the love for this kid. Physically he is legit but he is more of a DE/ OLB hybrid and we already have one of those committed. I do not see these guy as a MLB at all.....

Watch his tape, he can definitely play in space.

Shut down LB recruiting for the year.

Pretty obvious they don’t think he will come so they aren’t wasting their time.

Don't like giving up this soon on top talent. I'd bet money that there isn't a coach on Oklahoma's coaching staff that realistically believes Kenny Mcintosh is coming there but there still recruiting him like there's no tomorrow because of the 1%chance he may choose them.

Looks like we're making him a real priority with Patke on him

Been happening too much honestly
Gant, Rian Davis, Kaiir Elam, Brendan Gant, Trey sanders. It doesn’t make sense to do that unless you feel confident with other targets you are recruiting

Or you have a strong indication from credible sources and interactions with the recruit and others that he's committing elsewhere. Knowing when to move off one recruit for another is an integral part of the process. There are just so many hours in the day. But I do find it funny some of the same people complaining now about UM moving onto other targets too soon were complaining about how long it took us to move off Judas last cycle. Just like some of the people championing raising the value of a UM offer are the same people getting upset about insulting local kids with "late" offers after making them prove it.

At the end of the day, these are all judgment calls based on individualized circumstances for each recruit. At this point, I trust this staff (and especially Dugans, Brown, CMR, El Sicario Blanco, and even Searels) to make those judgment calls on a case-by-case basis. I will admit the fact 3/4 recruits you listed are on defense (and the one guy on offense, Trey, sounded like he broke contact with UM, and not the other way around) gives me more pause than if those guys were on offense and being recruited by the people on the staff I perceive to be our better recruiters.

But look at Battle... the staff clearly hasn't given up on him despite an O$U commit. Look at Dent... dude is likely gone to f$u, but the staff has reportedly kept him at the top of their CB board. Fuller has been committed to f$u, but that has not prevented the staff from recruiting him hard (and that one just might pay off).
