One of the nation's best safeties in the 2028 recruiting class CJ Craig-James is prepping for his junior season of high school football at Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. As the summer gets closer, CJ's recruitment is starting to heat up.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound safety told CanesInSight that there are currently 10 schools that are standing out in his recruitment: "Right now, Texas, Notre Dame, [Alabama], Miami, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, [Vanderbilt], Florida, and Ohio State are the most consistent," noted CJ. "Miami is real high on my list, like in the top 5."
According to 247Sports, CJ is currently ranked as a high four-star prospect. He ranks as the No. 71 player in his class, No. 7 among safeties, and No. 5 in Alabama.
CJ really emphasized how the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff is prioritizing him to be a part of the 2028 recruiting class. CJ stated he has a strong relationship with the Hurricanes staff, and that he hears from them constantly.
"The whole staff at The U is great and they all work together; so at least one person reaches out to me regularly," said CJ.
Craig-James has visited Missouri, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. He currently doesn't have a visit set up to Miami; however he told CanesInSight that he plans on coming down to Coral Gables this fall for a gameday visit.
"I plan to visit in the fall for a game day, for sure," said CJ.
When he arrives in Miami for a visit he will be looking at the overall culture and the Hurricanes facilities: "I want to look at the overall culture, the facilities, how the coaches implement their schemes, [and] how well they coach the guys."
This past season at Parker High School, he accomplished a total of 37 tackles, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and four interceptions.
