3 Things Miami MUST DO to beat Purdue

Miami will take on the No. 2 seeded Purdue Boilermakers on CBS Sports at 12:10 p.m. ET.

Here are three things Jai Lucas's Miami Hurricanes squad has to do to win tomorrows game versus the Purdue Boilermakers:

1. Win the battle of the boards

This seems pretty obvious, right? In order to win, Miami must rebound well. However, for this game, it is especially needed. The Boilermakers aren't afraid to go inside they attack the boards. If the Hurricanes can control the boards, Purdue will have a tough time getting second-chance points, which they rank inside the top 25 in.

The Boilermakers average a total of 35 rebounds per game, which ranks 130th in the nation in team rebounding. The Hurricanes rank inside the top 50 in team rebounding, so Miami has the advantage.

2. Hit shots from outside

Miami was 11-24 from three vs. Missouri yesterday night, due into part that Tre Donaldson was just on a heater form deep (5/7). We already know the Hurricanes can score inside, but Miami needs to be a dominate force ibehind the arc.

Noam Dorvat has became that guy to come in off the bench, and light it up from deep. He was only 1/3 from deep yesterday night. Purdue defends the three very poorly, so the Hurricane have to expose that even more.

3. Make (please) Make Free Throws

Can’t say it enough...

Yesterday night, Miami and Missouri both ranked below the top-300 in free throw percentage. Miami shot a horrific 58% from the free throw line. On the other hand, the Tigers exceeded from the line. The Hurricanes shot 17/29 from free throws, as Missouri shot 16/18.

Miami can miss them against Missouri, but when Purdue meets Miami tomorrow, Miami will have to shoot 80+ from the free throw percentage.

This game could come down to the end, and free throws will be lethal. Miami will have to make sure they make theirs more than Purdue. Could be the deciding factor in this game in the game. And have to make sure we don't send Purdue's point guard, Braden Smith, to the free throw line, as he shoots over 80 percent from the line.

Need to contain Braden Smith, because shutting him down is a tall order (for anyone).
