2027 Offensive lineman Sean Tatum commits to Miami

The Miami Hurricanes continue to stack up talent in their 2027 class, securing the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Sean Tatum.

A 6-foot-3, 320 pound lineman, Tatum projects as an interior force at the next level, slotting in at the guard position.

Frame-wise the John Carroll product checks off all the boxes. Tatum carries his weight well with a strong build and wide shoulders, projecting well to take up space on the interior.

But he doesn’t just use his size to take up space, the four-star moves well on his blocking assignments, unafraid to be physical and take defenders to the ground.

While he can struggle against fast rushers from time to time, he brings both mobility and power on the line and wins most of his battles.

Currently a tackle for his high school, Tatum showcased his guard ability throughout camps and bowl games this offseason — namely taking OL MVP at a Rivals Camp in February.

The Hurricanes beat out the likes of Florida, Auburn and Tennessee for the top-10 interior lineman, with Miami’s track record of offensive line development playing a key role.
“You should think about it from development,” Tatum said during his visit in March. “That's what makes me think that this is a great fit for me. I like coaches like that, not worrying about playing time, not worrying about the depth chart. Go out there and work.”

Following afterwards, Tatum mentioned his relationship with fellow UM offensive line commit Zaquan Linton and interestingly his relationship with major Cane target Mark Matthews — a guard/tackle pairing that could hold their own against any in the class.

For now, Tatum becomes Miami’s ninth commitment in a 2027 class that’s climbing its way up the rankings.

The four-star joins the aforementioned Linton as the Hurricanes only offensive line commits this cycle as UM continues to be selective in its process.

Tatum made the trip to Gainesville, but it wasn’t enough for the Gators to pull ahead of UM. It was easy to tell that Miami felt right for Tatum during his time on campus

Miami has now beaten rival Florida head-to-head for two recruits over the last couple of weeks. The first was the aforementioned Johnson. The Key West (Fla.) High defensive lineman was intrigued by the Gators but simply felt at home at Miami. Tatum also had Florida in his Top 2, but, again, Miami just made more sense for him.

While Miami has been recruiting hard across the country, it is also making sure to win key recruitments in the State of Miami.
