From Collins and Taylor speaking to Manny Navarro yesterday:
Sounds like the coaches don't care that much about Collins...

• Collins (6-4, 290) could be the first to part ways with Miami. He said he visited Florida on Saturday with a few of his high school teammates and continues to be impressed by the Gators.

He said a big reason he has remained committed to Miami – amid the team’s combined 13-13 record over the last two seasons – is because his mother wants him to stay close to home. But Collins said he took his mother with him up to Gainesville this past weekend, and she’s now “thinking about some stuff.”

He also said he hasn’t spoken to Miami’s coaches “since before February.” He said the relationship has been sort of rocky of late.

“Originally me and (Leonard Taylor) were recruited by Coach Simpson and then he left. Then coach Richt retired,” Collins said. “The coaches at Miami keep saying there’s going to be good changes, but I don’t see the results.”

Taylor, one of Miami’s top recruiting targets, does not have Miami in his top five. Florida, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee and Auburn are there and it appears the Gators are the front-runner.

“I like the whole coaching staff,” said Taylor, one of five five-star recruits in South Florida this year. “Every time I walk on campus, I feel like I’m home.”

Why not Miami? “Once they lost to Florida International, for me it was like: ‘How do you lose to FIU?’” Taylor said.

Taylor, who attended Miami’s Junior Day last month, said Miami’s coaches continue to recruit him hard. He said Miami defensive line coach Todd Stroud will, “Facetime me here and there.” Other members of Miami’s recruiting department message him as well. But it’s not working.

“They don’t leave me alone. I get text messages every day,” he said. “It’s annoying. But that’s their job, I guess.”

Taylor and Collins both said the only way Miami could land them in the end is by winning big on the field.

“If they prove it, I’m staying,” Collins said. “But I need proof. I just can’t keep going with the hype.”
Fvck them kids bruh, like every other coaching staff ain’t contacting them all the time 😂

Coach Stroud needs to earn his money. KP would have had these boys locked already,

It's a good thing this is a deep year for interior dlinemen in SFL. We should not have to settle for 2nd tier kids in a year like this but it is what is.

Go Canes
How can you say KP would automatically have both Collins and Taylor locked up? Given our past history it’s not right to think that would be the case. Patrick is a solid teacher, but I wouldn’t call him an all-world recruiter. Is he better than Steoud, who knows? But both these kids have bags written all over them so saying KP would have them shut off from pushes out of SEC schools is just dead wrong.

Forgot KP.

Diaz should have ****canned Stroud in January and gone all in on Charlie Partridge from Pitt. That man can coach and recruit south florida.

Diaz saw first hand what a ****** recruiting DL coach meant in Kugilowski and couldn’t wait to get him out.

But of course Stroud is one of guys so he won’t do anything logical like that.

Smh I agree. All we can do is take care of the field and see what we land. These kids are looking for a reason not to come at this point

They are already king of the state now. When I say this I'm talking about between the big 3.

There is no king of the state. All three teams have underperformed for years. With a lot of changes to both Miami and FSU, whatever team wins this upcoming year will land all the top 2021 guys.I just pray that for the first time that I can remember we field a competent team(top half of college football) on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

As of 3 months ago, most of our fanbase weren't interested in UM anymore either so I guess I cant blame them. (shrugs)

I disagree. UF is the best team in the state right now. There's no arguing that. They have been for 2 str8 years and their early buzz in recruiting is an exact correlation of that.

As far as recruiting goes as long as we look good on the field and win 9+ games we'll pull a very good class. No one is getting everybody. If there was one team that could it'd be UF by taking the next step and winning their conference and possibly make the playoffs. I doubt that happens. They still need to prove that they can beat UGA first but I don't see it regardless. The talent this cycle is crazy in state. We can't afford a 6-7/7-6 type season or another FIU type loss. If any of that happens it's going to be FSU bad preception wise for the next staff.
