2025 Jaden Wilkerson 3* OL from Orlando Edgewater

He's on the 25 OL Board that Gaby posted so I'm assuming an OV is forthcoming.

Did say he planned on returning

Some of you may know that I am connected to Edgewater high school. Yesterday I spoke with a couple of the coaches, and I can confirm that Wilkerson will commit to Miami soon. However, I am not sure that I am too high on him because he is a former basketball player (that couldn’t cut it), who just started playing football a couple of years ago. He has the prototypical size that you want in a tackle. But I don’t know how tough he really is. In the state of Florida where the DEs are about 6’1 200lbs we won’t know how good he is until that real comp come his way.

On the upside: the kid is really athletic and carry his size really really well. He is a true 6’5 320+ guy. One year in a S&C program would easily make a NFL caliber OT from the physical standpoint. If he can gain a physical and mental toughness (that’s not found in a basketball player) then Miami might have one on their hands. We’ll see if he’s a Anez Cooper or an Adam ElGammal. But the coach did say he’d take him over Payton Kirkland right now!! He mentioned that because he wouldn’t allow Kirkland to play for him back in the days when Kirkland tried to come to Edgewater cause he said the kid wasn’t good at all and his attitude wasn’t good either. Told me Kirkland was cut at Texas which is why he jumped in the portal.

Good $h!t. It seems they are placing alot on pure athleticism with alot of these players, which i like. If u remember Njoku came in as a 3 star, a high jumper and maybe played BB as well. I think he was the only first round pick of that class that included 5 star Chad Thomas and other higher rated players. Njoku was the best athlete.

I like us locking in these big high upside interior OL guys now and then we can streamline our OL focus on the true top of the board whale prospects

@DMoney Bank Update from June 7

- OL Jaden Wilkerson (Orlando) is a name coach Mirabal loves. He is rising after a good official visit last weekend and is a name to monitor.

Your the edgewater plug.

Tell your Edgewater coaches they need to get this kid to transfer there as well who we are recruiting.

They both played garbage comp and iwll play some better teams a t edgewater.

Sounds about right on Wilkerson and that maybe ok Because he has atleast 2 szns he will be expeccted to kind of sit and learn.

If your going to take a developmental guy...one that will be 6'5 320-330 is always a plus lol

I think with the new age of the transfer portal, NIL, unlimited transfers, and no counters. You would be foolishness not to take some OL “projects” every year.

They don’t cost much in terms of NIL and if they hit then great you got someone in the program like Anez Cooper for the next 4-5 years.

If they don’t hit then you can easily cut ties after their first semester if they are a total bust and basically every subsequent semester after if they are not developing as expected or get jumped by someone better.

Yes, I think you take a development type OL every year (but always with great traits and measurables).

But it's not the slam dunk savings you presume. Unless our collective is being run by morons, these NIL deals are contingent upon the player being on the team and can be renegotiated. So if a highly ranked, well paid player truly bombs, it's more likely a loss of a 1 or maybe 2 season investment (but not all 4).

Also, the portal door swings in 2 directions. If the kid develops into a stud, you'd best pay him like one. Otherwise, count on him portaling out for $$$. So if the kid is actually good, you're going to have to pay him ASAP. This isn't the NFL with 4-year rookie contracts where the teams have the leverage. It's a year-to-year (and more like portal-period-to-portal-period) negotiation.

Still some financial benefit if you manage to hit on the less highly sought after, developmental guys, but it’s a short-lived one.
