Head Coach Candidates

Jay Wright quit back in 2022 basically because he was burned out from coaching. As recently as last month, he's been quoted as saying he's "definitely done coaching". Seems like he's enjoying his new life as TV commentator. I'll never say never and things can always change, but just doesn't seem like Jay has any interest in returning to coaching right now.

John Calipari has to be considered. Especially if Kentucky gives him a $33 million dollar buyout.
Miami loves older coaches on the verge of retirement leading the basketball program and what is considered as failure at Kentucky would get him a statue outside of the Watsco Center.

More like Spo's asst Quinn would be available.... he would be looking to beef up his resume to replace Spolestra with the Heat eventually.... however Jowan Howard tried that a failed miserably though.
Chris Quinn is getting a NBA HC job in the next 1-2 years

Calipari is cooked, his way of thinking wouldn't fly at Miami, because we don't have the donor base to buy him Top 5 recruiting classes year after year. To win at Miami, you need a coach that can recruit, but also be sound tactically. Say what you want about L, dude's teams are usually sound tactically, he usually gets the most out of the talent he has available, barring some weird happenstance(IE this season, where chemistry was beyond terrible). Calipari does more with less, that isn't a sound strategy at Miami, because it's not guaranteed that you will have the MORE to work with. Even in his prime, Calipari was never a strong tactical coach, he was always a talent accumulator. One can argue, he's a more successful version of Mario Cristobal.

I’ll take Calipari in a heartbeat if he is not burnt out.

Good for him for cashing in. Probably stayed a year too long but Michigan is a really good landing spot

Bucky McMillan is a hot name in the coaching carousel. He's been at Samford for a few years now but after their latest run to the big dance, he's cashing his ticket and taking Bucky-ball to the P5 level. Was a favorite for the Bama job if Oats were to bounce, but that's looking unlikely now. Look for him to replace Stackhouse over at Vandy.
