Lol Bama already working to replace Steele, Charlie Strong might as well stay here vs go there for a year then be looking for work again when they replace Steele

Yeah if he was DC here he'd quickly have to adjust to not having elite corners at his disposal. But overall I would like the hire. Good resume with varied experience and upside to continue growing professionally.

FWIW, I like Campanile. I'm very partial to the full send all gas kind of defense the Phins have been cookin up. "But muh corners on islands" well look man if you got bad corners to begin with you better be getting home on your pressures anyway or you'll get MTSU'd again with or without sending 7 and playing cover 0 lol

I don't know how many times I yelled at my TV to quit playing cover zero. I feel like he played that 80% of the time, not even joking. Feel like Holland bailed him out a bunch or things could have gone way worse.

Strong isn’t going there. Bama 247 guy said it wasn’t true and any way bama has no more on field positions

Problem is you guys are taking the defense he was only the LB coach in and assuming that is the same thing he would run if the DC here. He might but he also might take everything he has learned with the Dolphins, at BC, etc. and run his own style of defense.

The problem is Miami itself.

A lot of wives don’t want to live here and have their kids live here.
Unfortunately it’s a stigma that still exists for this city.
It’s also a huge culture shock. I wasn’t gonna post this Until the campineli name came up cause now it makes sense to go after someone who’s already here instead of trying to convince a small town wife to move down here.

Also, he said the “culture” stigma is now affecting the coaching hire as well.
A lot of coaches have heard too many bad things from former coaches and former players.
He said coaches don’t want to put their reputation on the line for players who are gonna be too distracted to put in the work or just plain don’t want to put in the work.
This also makes sense given how Mario appears to be recruiting talent along with character. He absolutely needs to change this narrative if that’s what is being said.

This was being said during a coaching clinic when coaches were in between sessions and conversing.

I know it’s a far cry to say that a local coach is tuned in to what top coordinators in other states are thinking. But it is a small community.

Maybe the coaches on here can verify or dispute what he said. Sometimes rumors take a life of their own and this is all bs just like half of the names being reported.

Why is it so difficult to understand that some folks just don't want to live in a big city, it's just not for everyone. There is a lot to be said for living in a small(er) town.

You could have manned up and owned it. Instead, you did what you always do in every single freaking thread on this board - deflect, deny, accuse, insult, and inevitably tell someone to suck your **** or **** themselves. Not advocating for Strong to be the DC but I keep seeing ppl saying no bc he hasn’t called plays in a while. Honest question. Does that have that big of an impact? It’s not like he has been out of coaching. It’s not like he forgot how to do it. Sure there would be rust, but it’s not like he is incapable.

Family loves South Florida but he also knows he might be running an NFL defense soon. He's also good friends with Leonte Carroo (former Phins WR) who's currently a coach at Don Bosco Prep. Maybe that would help us recruiting there.

I just hope we get these coordinator hiring right this time.

he wasnt their first choice bc why would he be? hes a familiar face who can run the stuff nick wants in a short time frame given how close we are to spring. hes a one year stop gap imo
