Coaching Coaching Carousel 2023-2024 - Not Miami Related

Nothing UM can do if the LSU DC gig opens up and he's offered. He is from that state and he would consider it a better program. Plus, he would be coaching in a better conference.
not if his wife (who loves living in miami) has a say in the matter. and in that relationship, she gotz lots of say.

Fair point and these days coaches tend to work at places where the family, especially wife is happy.
This is almost written in stone as one of the certainties of college football. But this is UM we are talking about, where everything works in the opposite. Lol.

Lanning signed an extension this past July, boosting him to $7M/yr with $200K annual increases through 2028.

100% guaranteed.

Buyout of $20M is fixed for the duration of the contract.

Miami has got to make him the highest paid DC and asst HC.. buy him a mansion on south beach and a yacht.. what ever the **** you gotta do

Lanning should stay put and get Bama in a few years.
Agree, Oregon is a pretty easy job right now. Programs are pretty easy to maintain once they get rolling and Lanning walked in with a Top 15 most talented roster and even improved on it. Texas AM is a difficult job right now, the only thing they have going for them is Money. They are what the 9th best job in the SEC?

Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma
Texas
Florida
Alabama
LSU
Tennessee

No rumors…but…

I feel like this is just how college football is. They fire Franklin and hire someone else the odds are they’ll go from a 9-10-11 win team that just can’t win the big game to becoming a 6-7-8 win team that doesn’t win anything.

Choose wisely.

I don’t think it will be long before programs set up like this for consistency and continuity start breaking through with the 12 team playoff. Some coaches will retire and the carousel continues. It’s all cyclical.
