Newsflash: Carson Beck is not Cam Ward. He does not run the zone read well. I dont know that he has pulled it and ran once all season for a meaningful gain. Without that threat its a wasted down and the freakin play is somehow a staple of the offense. Its going to be our downfall if Dawson keeps calling it so much. Saw us run it with a pass option last night once and that certainly fits Beck’s skillset better. The zone read with Beck as a running threat is killing us. Dawson please stop being so stubborn and pivot to what your QB does well: Throw the ball without having to make too many decisions.

If you ask Mario Can you out scheme a team with better players that execute? He will answer NO, while I feel a majority here will say YES!!
 
Their is multiple issues on offense. It starts with A Gap running, our bread and butter. I am sick of whinning about this for seasons. 80% A Gap running isn't bad, it's so ridiculous, it should get someone fired. How can a P4 coach in this era of football, be this ignorant? He won't stop. That isn't Dawson. Dawson is problem with every pass looking for the slot receiver. It's Dawson's playing calling and bubble screens. It's Dawson's problem when his QB is rattled with good protection and not taking his checkdowns. It's Dawson's problem when his QB has a problem throwing in zone and split coverage reads. It's Dawson's problem that we don't try to hide or confuse D's before the snap. Dawson's fault they know we are running or passing before the snap and the run is in the A Gap. It's pathetic to be forced to play your 2nd string players with this roster. Dawson is attack by nature play caller, through the air mostly. He doesn't have free will, here. Half the season is over and backups haven't gotten near enough playing time to develop.
The D has to tighten up on run D and again, play bigger rotations like last night. You have to keep team culture in a good place, play players. This is common sense crap. Combining out flat after a embarrassing upset loss at home at home again, pathetic.
I have given up on contending for a NC and that isn't because of talent. Sadly, this season is wide open, but or staff is developing enough to know how to get us there. I needed that rant after a game and a half of pathetic coaching.
