Former Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Xavier Restrepo has been notified that he has made the Tennessee Titans' 53-man roster.

After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Restrepo made his presence known this offseason after spending time on the practice squad last season. After all the hard work he has put in, he could now officially say he is on a NFL team.



Shortly after he heard the big news, he didn't take long to thank the man above: "The Places GOD Will Take You If You Give Him Your ALL."



Restrepo has been working with his former quarterback at Miami, Cam Ward. The two already built a special bond in college, which makes this duo a lot scarier heading into the season.

Yesterday afternoon, Restrepo played in the Titans' preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Despite the 24-15 loss, he recorded four receptions for 71 yards -- solidifying his spot in Tennessee. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a three-star prospect, receiving offers from the likes of 23 schools. He decided to stay close to home and play for his dream school.

Despite being a freshman in college, it did not take him that long to get into the flow of things at Miami as he put up historical numbers at Miami. He surpassed Santana Moss's career receiving yards record and also breaking the career receptions record, previously held by Mike Harley. During his four season with the Hurricanes, he totaled for 2,844 receiving yards on 200 receptions and 21 receiving touchdowns.

You love to see his hard work finally pay off.

Absolutely man, I dont think people realize how these teams just churn threw the bottom of rosters. Not a joke at all..

 

Seems like they stashed him for a day so he didnt get claimed. Plan was probably always the practice squad as backup slot

Its not just that the NFL is cut throat but its also uber-political. There is a longstanding belief in the NFL that its better to fail traditionally than to succeed untraditionally. This mindset leads a lot of NFL team management to act a certain way to protect their jobs. Keeping an undrafted, undersized player on the roster when they have other players available who give them the ability to tell ownership, "Hey this guy was drafted in the 6th round by this other team and is more typical of the body type we want in this role, etc..." Guys in the NFL are constantly covering their asses with moves like this.

 

Im happy for Restrepo. He'll get at least one big earnings year.

Im not sure if he's considered a first or second year player per the rules, but the current league minimums are:

1st year player = $865K
2nd year player = $1.05 million

Oh well...

Players with two or more years of service make a minimum of $18,350 per week and a maximum of $22,850 per week (about $330,300 to $411,300 over an 18-week season).

 

Good for him. He’s an NFL player, hope he can make it last and have a long career

Thats still a great living. Would love to see him make the cut but still can do what he loves and make a great living from it. Thanks for this. Didnt know the practice squad salaries. (Never really cared to google it or anything. Till now, because of X)

 

What a bummer. Just texted the wife yesterday to update her on our hometown hero and how great his work ethic is. She was super happy to hear it. Then this. I will never understand the mechanisms of the NFL, waivers, free agency, and so on. Regardless, this sucks for X and is just another obstacle to overcome so he can keep beating the odds. I hope he finds a home and a team that appreciates who he is as a person and player.

NFL teams play all sorts of games with rosters this time of year. Need a few days to see how it plays out. The Giants did something similar with Berrios. Cut him yesterday, but have a handshake agreement to bring him back as punt returner.

 

Titans cut KJ Osborne a day earlier than Restrepo and he was signed to their practice squad today. Restrepo may be on the outside looking in. But there is still time .
