Living in Florida has been good to 4-star wide receiver Darnell Salomon. However, every baby bird must leave the nest sooner or later.

Salomon told Bleacher Report Thursday night that he has a top six of Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn and LSU. The list came after Salomon, the nation's No. 12 receiver, picked up an offer from Texas earlier today.

Notice that all six of the schools are out-of-state programs.

"My mother is always telling me to go travel," Salomon said. "I've been in Florida all my life and haven't been to many other places. This will give me a chance to travel and see other things."

Salomon has 25 reported offers, including offers from Miami, Florida State, Florida and Central Florida, but on Thursday, none of the in-state schools made the cut. Salomon added that his process is still open.

LSU currently is the school trending for Salomon. According to his 247Sports Crystal Ball, 44 percent of prognosticators feel that he will sign with LSU, while 31 percent favor Alabama. The last five predictions swing to Alabama's advantage.

None of Salomon's top six holds a proximity edge, and with the in-state schools currently out of the race, the three SEC powers have to feel good about the positions they're in. Auburn is the closest school of the six, but the drive is roughly 10 hours away.

Salomon's top six all have rich college football histories, and he's been in contact with multiple members of the respective coaching staffs. He's looking forward to further building relationships during the spring and summer seasons.

"I've talked to these coaches the most," he said. "They tell me about the school, academics and how I could fit in their starting lineups. They've all been really truthful about their football team."

One of the six schools is expected to get a big receiver who can be a playmaker at the next level. He measured in at Nike's The Opening Miami regional at 6'2 ½" and 205 pounds. At the event, he ran a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, but he has been clocked as fast as 4.4 seconds in previous tests.

His combination of size and speed makes him a wanted individual. Texas, as the newest offer, is hoping to make a big enough splash on Salomon to get him to campus.
Salomon admitted that he isn't an expert on Longhorn knowledge, but he's heard a lot of positive things about head coach Charlie Strong, and he saw what Strong did with recruiting for the 2015 class, landing five players from the Sunshine State.

"I know a little bit about Texas, but I like how they got the South Florida kids, like [4-star defensive back] Davante Davis," Salomon said. "I haven't really read up on [Strong], but I've heard he's a real good coach and a real good mentor."

Salomon said he would like to visit Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon this summer, but nothing has been set in stone. He's been to Auburn, Alabama and LSU either for unofficial visits or for camps. He said he isn't planning on taking long trips during the spring.

As for a decision, Salomon noted that one of two things will happen.

"I put a little thought of making it during the summer or during the all-star game," said Salomon, who has committed to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January. "We'll just see how it plays out."

Warrant: Accused football recruit continues to use iPhone he said he didn't stealA five-star recruiting prospect, accused of felony burglary, watched a University of Georgia athlete while she slept and continues to use the iPhone he denied taking from the dorm room she shared with other female athletes, according to a search warrant released by the Clarke County Clerk’s Office last week.

Darnell Sam Salomon, 17, a star wide receiver from Miramar, Fla., turned himself in July 25 on a charge of felony first-degree burglary, accused of stealing a wallet and a white iPhone from a Busbee Hall dorm room during the morning hours of July 19. But new details reveal the stolen iPhone’s owner, another UGA athlete, contacted police to advise them her new phone downloaded photos and images from her iCloud account she was unfamiliar with. Two of the photos, added to her iCloud account on Aug. 3, were of Salomon, according to the search warrant.

The UGA athlete said she did not take the photos. More images have been added to the iCloud account since then, indicating “the stolen phone is still in use and linked” to the UGA athlete’s iCloud, according to the warrant. While talking with police, the athlete showed them her iCloud account which linked to a phone named “Megatron.” The athlete said she did not add the phone to her account, and authorities believe it to be her stolen iPhone.

Police used the Find My iPhone application with the UGA athlete’s iCloud account and placed the iPhone in lost mode, activating the phone’s GPS. The stolen phone sent back a message showing its location, which was Salomon’s Florida address, according to the warrant.

The warrant revealed more details from the morning of the incident when Salomon was in Athens while attending Georgia’s Dawg Night camp.

According to the warrant, one of the women in the dorm room woke up at 7:30 a.m. with an “unknown black male standing over her watching her sleep.” She started screaming and asked him why he was in her room, to which he replied, “I saw you in here naked,” the warrant reads. A suitemate came and the man, who identified himself as “Derrick,” slowly backed out of the room. After he left, none of the five women in the dorm knew who the man was.

Police called Salomon’s high school coach Michael Tunsil, who said Salomon denied doing anything wrong and denied leaving the football players’ suite after they went to sleep at 3 a.m. But video surveillance from Busbee Hall from July 19 shows Salomon looking around on the first floor of Busbee Hall between 5:55-6:42 a.m., according to the warrant.

Salomon, one of Florida’s top high school receivers for the Class of 2016, has scholarship offers from Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and LSU, among others.

lol hes looking for whatever school thats gonna let him in with his 2.0 weighted gpa

I know he's at Central now BUT.

Champagnat gonna get cracked down on eventually. Lot of doubts on if it's even a legit credited school.

I'm ok with not getting this kid as long as he doesn't end up playing in the state. Will mention though, this is one of those kids that would give Miami a hard look if we do what's needed on the field.

Lets be realistic and not set ourselves up for a meltdown. Between the arrest, the lies and Champagnat, he has a near zero chance of coming here. Besides, he will probably never be able to cut it here academically.
