Trick plays are for inferior teams. Just execute the offense and we should be fine. Third quarter…up by 13 points, we start to really lean on the run game. 3rd and short…A&M HAS TO HAVE A STOP RIGHT HERE…and Gattis dials up the back-breaking flea flicker. Game. Over.

I 100% expect Gattis to come out with multiple different things he has not shown yet. I expect some hurry up, some RPO, some ground and pound, and some deep shots. I wouldn't be surprised if the first 4 drives all looked completely different from the other. We have a great pass protecting OL (last year proved that) and they've gotten much better at running the ball. TVD can stand in the pocket and throw or throw on the run. Our offense can and should be multi-dimensional and this is the game to empty the chamber. You don't have a QB like TVD, an OL that has gotten better, and such a diverse RB stable without using that all to your advantage to keep the defense off balance.

I expect Gattis to show out and impress tomorrow.

would like to see play action on the first play. doesn't need to be a deep throw. but even just a 10-15 yard gain would give me some confidence

with that being said, we do need to run the ball to win the game. but play action on 1st down will be key for the game imo

I hope you are right, but I have a hard time expecting that. I've seen a lot of stubborn coaches do the same thing over, and over, and over again, thinking it will work once the players get it right. In the end, they get fired and go somewhere else for rehab, usually under a coach that knows that side of the ball better than they do.

We need to see more, and in a hurry, or this whole thing is going to fall apart. I want Mario to succeed here, so he'd better get Gattis to adapt to the talent he has, not the talent he wishes he had, or might have someday.

I have a sick feeling about Gattis. As I do with Addae. I feel like their in the same boat. I've heard that Gattis success at Michigan (Broyles) was due to Harbaugh basically being wayyy more hands on with the offense...and with Addae, that it was Kirby who really should get credit for the DB play at Georgia. Spoke to many credible people off CIS about both. I knew just who to call in ref. to Addae...and I trust them.

WHY should it get ugly though? Isn't that an indictment on Miami fans? I said this with other coaches, Mario and his staff aren't responsible for the past 15-20 years of mediocrity. He is trying to build a program in all areas. I am not sure why people thought he would deviate from his style of coaching.

He isn't going to come in and go up tempo air raid on offense. He is going to run a power spread offense, that emphasizes physicality in the run game, but he is going to be somewhat balanced. He will throw it, but not 40 times per game.

Gattis just won the Broyles award. He is a smart guy, but he also works for Mario. When Gattis was at Alabama that offense looked and was explosive. Why? He had Juedy, Smith, Waddle, Ruggs. He had an offense at Michigan that led nation in most 50 yard plays last year. MAYBE we need more talent on offense?

Mario is going to build this program a certain way, and if fans don't like it, tough. He is a proven Head Coach now, and he deserves time to get things right. Stylistically it may not look how some fans want, but it can be successful. How successful will depend on talent acquisition.
