Will we EVER get back to where we were in the 80's

No. No one will ever get back to that, the game has changed too much and so have the attitudes of the kids we are recruiting. Everyone is a little superstar now.

We still can get back to winning, and winning big...we will always have that potential. But not even the best teams these days are transcendent; no one is putting any of those Alabama teams, or this current FSU team, up there with the all time greats unless they are Alabama or FSU fans.

Nope, neither will anyone else. Remember when Uif thought they were the next dynasty, yeah, well they just went 4-8. You're lucky to have a very good two deep, much less three deep.
Miami had Jack Fernandez fill in for Tiger Clark and win OB MVP for gods sake. Right or wrong, guys were more patent then and you could build up your talent.

It could happen. Look at ALA recently. But it would have to be in quick spurts. The days of 10 year dominance are over. But you could dominate for a period of 4-5 years if you hit on a few great recruiting classes in a row and dont have guys leaving early for the league.

I think we can get there and SOON. But Al has got to be fired after this year if he doesnt rebound from this.

alabama is so successful because they have the majority of a single state that has nothing else to live for donating stupid amounts of money to the program. they can afford quality coaches (including the best head coach in college football) from the top to bottom of their staff. meanwhile, we can dole out so-so money for a head coach and pocket lint for assistants.

Of course we can, the admin has to want it though. We really don't need to be Bama to win it all, we've never had those resources. We just need talent hired in the right places. The players will come.

It was an earth shattering cosmic transformation of college football not a blip on the radar screen. However, I doubt anyone will do it again. Certainly we will not be allowed to, by college football or our own administration.

When you intercept a pass or recover a fumble and have the chance to run it in instead of lining up again, that's cheap yards and cheap points. You have to take advantage of cheap yards and cheap points.

With the Orange Bowl we had that every game. It was the equivalent of 2.5 cheap points per game compared to where we are now.

We may never break 2nd in the Coastal agian. Programs are passing us by like they have light speed. We will NEVER come within 18 points of UL again, I'll tell you that.
