We're all flawed in one way or another, but riding it out with his best friend and best man the way he has, that's admirable. Dude has got his back and if we're all being real, you're lucky as **** if you have a friend like that yourselves.

Yes we are all born flawed. And sacrificing YOURSELF for a friend is admirable. But that is not what Al did. He sacrificed his players, the other coaches, the program, the fans, and all who came before and after. He took care of himself with a nice fat contract extension. Had Al cancelled the extension and went year to year two years ago rather than fire his friend, then come back and talk. He and his family are all taken care of. Not so the kids that Butch might had made 1st rounders or the assistant coaches Butch might have trained for NFL riches, and certainly not us fans. Al Golden gave up nothing for his friend, he stole it from US and gave it to his frigging friend.

UM is an interesting case study in contradictions as the people in charge of UM portray the school as being among the nation's elite, while they continue to fvck up the most basic situations. This one is really simple: they hired and gave an extension to a person who can't do his job in an effective manner so they try to hide their mistake instead of rectifying it and moving forward.
