Why recruits should pick the U over bama

When kids go to Alabama it will always be about Saban he makes Alabama. Miami has always been about the GREAT players no matter who the coach is. 20 years from now the 30 for 30 will be about Saban. If we want to be back we need to have dawgs on both sides of the field, players make their name here for college and the pros.

Definition of a failed and desperate thread.

Winning. Nothing else matters but winning. That’s why kids pick Bama...over us and everyone else.

We’re a middle of the road ACC team. They’re top dog in the $EC. That’s why kids pick Bama. They’re the ‘Top Dog’ program right now.

This thread sounds like a IU or UNLV basketball thread jealous of the Dukies. Win and get the best players or get passed up. Those ‘has beens’ have been passed up and are a lap down to Coach K. Same thing gonna happen here unless we win and win consistently soon.

Kids wanna be a part of a winning program.

Kids want to be a part of a winning program because it gives them the best shot to put $$ in their pocket after 3 years. Kids know Bama will develop them the best, give them the most spotlight, and, ultimately, give them the best chance to be a high draft pick. Put yourselves in their shoes.

If you had the chance to attend Harvard on a full scholarship and earn 6 figures after school as opposed to a state school where you'd earn 50k after school, which would you choose?

We had our day. I'm glad I was wise enough to understand that everything was coming together perfectly in a brief window of time, and that it was flukish and guaranteed not to endure. That's why I savored every game and taped most of them.

Going to school at USC certainly helped. I could see the inherent advantages that program had that Miami lacked, like the incredible game day atmosphere. One version is like College Game Day 6-7 times per year and the other one is showing up at Hard Rock and pretending that tailgating in the parking lot of a faraway pro venue is no different than on-campus Saturdays at elite programs across the country.

Impossible not to laugh at the absurdity. Imagine what kids visiting Alabama see on their game day visit, compared to similar at Miami. This is one depiction:

Those programs have natural ups and downs but they are always eligible to rebound to national supremacy. Miami has considerably more obstacles, and don't let the administrators here try to claim otherwise via assertions of nearby available talent. Miami has never been at or near the top of the recruiting rankings over a stretch of 4-5 stringed years. Previously it was not necessary. Now it is necessary, as countless examinations reveal.

Unless we want to depend on the always-clever Outlier Mode. There are still some geniuses on this site who clutch to Outlier Mode, as if it ever held any significance at all. Yeah, one counter example. That's what I'm looking for. We'll bank on that.

Wow one of the dumbest threads I’ve read in a while. Kids now a days would laugh you out of the room. Hope you don’t recurit for a living.

you get a better football education at Alabama right now than you do here, it’s jot even close (right now) with this mickey mouse staff on offense. If you want to be a lawyer you’re gonna go to schools like harvard or Chicago etc over FAU

I fully believe when these kids look back 30 years from now they would regret going to Bama over Miami. Miami offers so much more being in the diverse city and the degree is much better. Bama is a shortsighted decision more of an in the moment type.

You can succeed and get paid in the NFL going to Miami just the same.

Right now the big difference is winning in college is an advantage over Miami.

But if Neal, Bogle, Stevenson, Richards, Summerall, join Huff and Smith and Harvey Miami will be able to compete at a very high level imo.

You're not wrong...but I find being dominant for essentially three decades, winning national titles in three decades isn't flukish. If Miami is an outlier with 5 national titles over three decades of recent vintage, thats truly unique.

I seem to think that what became of the landscape of college football and Miami unable to adapt, is what keeps Miami out of the circle.

In sum, the price of the brick went up and Miami couldn't afford to compete.

Can't afford the staff required to compete nationally, consistently.
Can't afford the facilities required to compete nationally, consistently.
Can't afford the infrastructure required to compete nationally, consistently.
Can't afford the talent required to compete nationally, consistently.

Couple that with the move to The Rock, a trash/cheap BOT/President, some terrible coaches.

Even if Miami doesn't regain National Championship form...a concept on life support at this point...I don't think asking for 10-2 or 11-1 (maybe 9-3 in a down year) annually is asking too much. But, we've become a 7 to 8 (7.6 win average) win team on average since joining the ACC. Thats some wildly unacceptable football, regardless of how flukish that 30 year run was.

Whats wrong with Hard rock?

Whats wrong with Hard rock?

Far away from campus, terrible game day atmosphere most of the time.

Loved the glimpse we saw last year when Miami was actually winning and relevant...but that was like two games in a decade that felt like a big time college football atmosphere. The optics arent great most of the time for recruits.

Totally agree. Sadly, That isn’t us right now. :/
