Why is Manny getting a pass?

BCs offense is turble.

Again he fails to adjust to a power team that lines up multiple tight and unbalanced line.

Continues to line up 4-3 base on a Triple tight set. What happened to his odd fronts?

First series BC moved through us like a hot knife through butter.

First TD was the same play used by FSU on their TD to Terry of a bunch formation.

Again, key momentum moments, cant get off the field, team unprepared and not of the mindset of attacking the opponent and stepping on their throats from the get.

Manny has flaws, but the defense has played well enough to be undefeated. We can bash plenty of corches right now but Manny is way down the list.

I do believe Manny, from an X's and O's perspective is a little overrated. He can get outsmarted by good offensive minds and sometimes outsmarts himself with the wrong calls at the wrong time. But he's a great motivator, and has the ability to self-evaluate the results. He has dialed back the oddly timed blitzing and has showed he can make positive adjustments coming out of the locker room at halftime. the biggest thing is that the kids on defense believe in him. He 'aint perfect but I say count your blessings. Manny's defense in the only thing keeping this program from complete free fall at the moment.

Well said

Our defense held BC to 17 points. The other 10 came from Blowsier turnovers that gave them the ball near the endzone. At the end of the day you should be able to beat a team that only scores 17 points.

While the defense isn't perfect, it's plenty good enough to win the Coastal. There is definite room for improvement, think we are very limited athletically at certain positions, particularly LB, which hurts us.

Frankly the offense is such a train wreck, any sign of life and intensity on defensive is a breath of fresh air.

Lol. At Manuela's family.

He gave up 26 points against a terrible LSU offense including 100 plus yards on the ground to a scrub RB. Then 3 straight scrub teams and even then he gave up 24 to Toledo. Then his best gam against a terrible UNC squad. Then more points than he should have allowed against 3 terrible offenses in FSU, UVA & BC that put us in an early hole.

But I guess he isn't underachieving either?

OP is correct. Miami only has the second best defense in nation. Finish #1 or get out.

This right here and we have been lacking half time adjustments for a long time but I’m not crowning him still

Do you watch any offensive series or do you just expect the defense to overcome whatever difficult, and sometimes impossible situations Richt's offense puts the D in?

I dont Think anyone can sit here and say the defense wasn’t a problem early on.

Like when? The first half against LSU

26 points is an indictment of the defense? With no help from offense or STs?

You must not watch CFB or does Bama suck too letting up 30+ to Arkansas?

GTFO

One thingManny has to realize is that the entire CFB world knows our offense is complete dog ****.

Any opposing OC is coming into the game against us thinking 1. We score over 21 we have a good chance of winning and 2. So long as we don’t turn the ball over, we’ll probably win.

Any OC, especially that of an “inferior” opponent is going to throw the kitchen sink at us early in hopes of getting some points on the board knowing full well we can’t score.

Manny isn't the biggest problem but our LB play has disappointed, the DL isn't consistent, and we still have lapses in coverage and tackling.

The constant "We're still the #2 defense in the country" talk should be taken with a grain of salt. We haven't faced any juggernauts nor do we look the part.

Total Offense of our opponents so far:
LSU 87th
Savannah State #10 in the MEAC
Toledo 47th
FIU 55th
UNC 64th
FSU 115th
Virginia 82nd
BC 37th

Clemson is the #4 defense for example but has faced five top 30 offenses so far.

Why's he getting a pass?

Because his defense has played 2 bad quarters all season (1st BC aided by about 90 yards in 2 perfectly executed trick plays), 3rd Toledo. Despite very little offensive help and punting giving them no field position leverage.

Are they top 4 or 5? Maybe not, haven't played strong offensive schedule by any means...BUT they are definitely a top 8 unit in the nation imo.

I get it. For me, it's more when Diaz's defense tends to get worked up and down the field. Lately, it's always in the first half, first quarter especially.

I know that any half decent team doesn't panic when it gets down a couple scores early, and granted, Diaz tends to be good in the 2nd half, but half decent, that's not where this team is right now. You DO panic when this team gets down a couple scores early, because the way this team is currently constructed, it doesn't have the juice to make its way back into a game. Our tendency to look confused and shocked on defense right out of the gate just exacerbates the existing offensive problems.

Manny did adjust. By the 4th series bc was locked down, and 10 points came from turnovers inside the red zone.

Manny has set the table for the O to grab a win with even a minimally competent offense.

Fvck Mork.
