Why I think King is coming back

I think he can play in the league. I would love for Da'King to come back, but if McSorly for the Ravens can make a roster certainly Da'King can make it.

He fits the Ravens offense.

This team, as ill-prepared and undisciplined as they can be, could be cooking with gas in 2021 if the important pieces come back and it could be a season where we really make a run.

We're all down on Miami after UNC because we saw a lot of the same ol, but national perception will be returning top QB in King, a significantly improved offense, a big time recruiting class, a defense that should be better coming off an 8-2 season should be in line for a really good season.

Now we may know differently, but we should be pretty good next year, we just need to get over the hump and beat teams like UNC. They will be very good next year as well.

I’ve heard this somewhere before

You're not wrong, and we'll probably disappoint. But nationally, this will likely be the narrative. And I am sure that King believes the same...otherwise, why would he come back (I think he should and will).

If we can retain Bubba Bolden (should stay) and Jaelan Phillips (if he can be assured of a 2nd or 3rd round choice - or better - he should go. If he's getting Day 3 grades, he should stay) then Miami is looking pretty good. That's not including the corch quotient we're always dealing with...but the roster will look good.

No doubt. Another offseason where we all convince ourselves we should be vastly improved (which we should) for myriad reasons

I agree with most of what you're saying but I think it's a pipe dream for Phillips or Bolden to come back. If those are the only 2 guys to go, I'll be feeling pretty good about next season. A guy like Harley needs to stay but I fear that he may make the jump also which would make our WR room look scary. The key obviously is getting King to stay which you also made clear.

would make 10 times the amount of money staying at Miami, dont see how that could be refuted given the QB draft list in both years

To be fair...we were improved this year. UNC leaves a bad taste in our mouth, but we did improve.

In theory offense should be better, although, I won't lie...I don't think it'll be THAT much better...none of the WRs have shown much. Maybe if Harley and Brevin return...but idk.

Also, in theory, the defense SHOULD be at least a little better - Miami's yards per play in 2020 was 63rd, a full yard difference from 2019 where we ranked 12th and even more than where we were in 2018 where we were 3rd nationally in YPP and 2017 where we were 12th in YPP. So, this year was a major outlier year of Manny's tenure here. Before 2020, we were 9th, 12th, 3rd, and 12th in YPP...this year, we were 63rd. It'll be better next year.

And special teams was the best turnaround in the nation and we are returning our awesome punter and whichever Borregales is back there kicking for us will once again, be excellent. So, I think Specials will be good, too.

Now, we still got a corch back there, but hey...he made some changes to the offense last year and it worked. I think Baker, Rumph, and Patke should all hit the bricks, but as Manny has said, they are all friends IRL, so this might be a tough pill to swallow that not much changes with the defensive staff, even though it should. If Manny is going to go down and thats how he wants to play this, have at it, he'll be unemployed fast enough.

If king comes back and the defensive scheme is changed I’ll be optimistic.

King coming back will set us back on getting coaches we need to win a Championship.

Please King leave for the draft... Without you we're a 3 win team, and Manny gets fired this Season. Don't bail him out again while getting killed behind a trash OL... With unproven WRs. Your draft stock isn't going up no matter what. You're a short QB, Have questionable arm strength, and just need to move on. Prepare for draft and hit the weight room.

I appreciate you being a Cane.

What if we win and the coaches that you want to leave/get fired, get a HC, DC, OC job some where else. We don't have to lose for coaches changes to happen.

Totally disagree on him coming back setting us back. Winning consistently will get us back and falling back to get new coaches puts us back in mode we’ve been in for fifteen years.

He’s coming back, because it’s in both his and the university’s best interest. He’s a talented and bright young talent. If he was to enter into the draft, he’d lose money and possibly his career going forward. Teams have less of a financial incentive to keep lower paid draft picks on the roster. It’s really that simple. He understands the situation better those who have come before him.

I need this announcement to come sooner than later. Portal is about to start jumping immediately after ESD days. I'd hate for us to miss on a guy like
