Why do we consistently fail to get the most out of players?

I blows my mind when, year after year, I see a Cane in the NFL that never did much here or certainly underachieved and my first reaction is " Wait, what a coincidence! There was a former Cane with that same name....can it be him?"

This years its Gus Edwards. GUS EDWARDS! Travis Benjamin. Allen Hurns. Ray Ray Armstrong, Chickillo, Sheantrel Henderson, etc etc etc etc.....There are so many examples over the past 10-12 years I'm sure posters will fill in some names. I recall one time I was watching a Falcons game and there was an o lineman that NEVER played here who was starting for an NFL team. I was stunned. How come too often players from the U perform better at the NFL level than college? Its obviously the norm that its the other way around.

I get that its at the end of the day on the player to work, train, study, and get it done. I'm not blaming the Coker/ Shannon/ golden/Richt trainwrecks 100% for those guys underperforming but....is it that we are recruiting kids that wont put in the work, or have the staffs simply not developed them?
