Why Do People Act Like It's Solely The Defense's Fault?

And that firing Dorito would accomplish anything at all? This is a shltty defense predicated on fear. The problem is that it's also Al's pride and joy, and not only does his loser mentality infect the program, but then, there's this:

- 53rd in total offense
- 74th in red zone offense
- 54th in scoring offense
- 124th in 3rd down conversions

- 111th in kick return defense
- 58th in kick returns

- Miami is the 11th most penalized team in the country.
- Miami is tied for 85th in turnover margin.

This is a bad football team in year 4. ALL the way around. Poorly coached clown show.

Everyone sucks. **** everybody. Fire everyone.

That's what people don't realize. We need to stop talking just about No D . the whole team is infected. He was just the first symptom of the sickness. Its fire Golden

I agree. We have the perfect storm of what constitutes a bad football team.
- An offense which can't sustain a drive to help the defense out.
- A defense which can't get off the field to help an offense out.
- Special teams which give up big plays and good field position.

I think this team needs to go the route of the Dallas Cowboys. Build a stud offensive line, run the ball, and keep your D off the field. You can win against more talented teams if you keep them off the field. Notre Dame almost won with this strategy last night.

Is the offense the greatest, of coarse not, however this team has a true freshman at the wheel. It has been 4 years of Doritos and nothing has gotten better. Any other big time school would have canned this guy two years ago.

I'm not giving away pink slip flyers, but the offense has a pass in my book due to time of possession being so lopsided and the defenses total inability to get off the field as well as having the games completely dictated to them.

Having said that ,
Fire everybody

i think some of us feel we're heading in the right direction with the offense, we haven't had a "franchise qb" since dorsey. kaaya has shown he could be the guy, plus he's gaining a ton of experience. i think if we replace donofrio and leave the offense in tack, we'll see a huge improvement.

not too mention the recruiting success of coley . . . plus harris (which is the only reason we have walton), and having beard on board (only reason for scarlett and bruce) . . . clear house on defense and start fresh, give the offense more time

If Doritos has not improved the D in 4 years he will never do it. I have seen more out of Coley in 1+ years than 4 out of Doritos.

Agreed. But the reason for the perception is that the defensive alignments are so bad, that everyone and their grandmother can see the problem even before the ball is snapped. Three d-linemen in frog stances, linebackers 6 yds off the LOS, corners 10 yds. deep and backpedaling straight away, and safeties--well they're so far back you don't even know they're on the field. If the offense fails to convert on 3rd down because someone missed a block, the cause of the problem isn't so obvious (except in games like Louisville, earlier this year-- the offensive problems there were pretty obvious).

Compare Golden's defensive alignments on critical downs to what you saw from FSU on the last 3 plays that ND had the ball, in scoring position, last night. FSU's D lined up close to the LOS and played to win. ND would've walked in for the win against Miami.

That's just it. If our offense played better then the defense would be top 25.

signed,

Al Golden

Imagine an offense that got 3-4 more possessions a game, because that is literally what our "defense" is giving up with all this yards dont matter and let teams march down the field on us. The game has fundamentally changed, you need possessions, its literally a race to 40. A team like Nebraska and Georgia Tech should be an easy enough strategy and we played the opposite of what anyone with a IQ over 60 and even remotely knowledgeable about the game would do. We let those teams dictate our strategy instead of forcing them to change what they do, which would have caused shorter possession times with incomplete passes and increased the chances for turnovers.

You have to try to be this bad at defense in Miami. My gawd, we've been historically bad in all 4 years of these clowns.

The poor defensive play directly effects the offensive rhythm. Anyone that has ever played a down of ball knows that. To expect this offense to sit on the sideline for 8-9 minutes at a time and then come on the field and flow is just crazy.

Just like a poor offense going 3 and out causes the defense to be tired, this bend don't break, give them 4 yards a play and die a slow death defense is messing up our offensive performance.

Al Golden sucks at coaching football, period. There isn't one thing about our team on the field that I can point to as evidence of him being a good coach. Not a single one.

There is a much bigger problem than simply incompetent football coaches.
Focus needs to be on Shalala, BOT and Athletic Director.

True.
If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
How about spending real money on real coaches, clowns!

It's a bad product. It's been a bad product for years now.

We are better at excuses than we are at playing football.

If only these **** kids would start executing!

Because the select few who still believe in him (they are out there on twitter), are trying to make Dorito the scapegoat so Golden can return.
