Why did Mario Cristobal leave Miami to work for Satan?

At the time he was truly torn. He was up and back to Tuscaloosa at least 2 times before making that decision. And of course he was crucified by fans at the time when he left for Bama (think he was here for 2 weeks or so under Golden). Hate to use the cliche but in hindsight it was a good "business decision" for him and his coaching future.
I think he even got demoted at Bama (wanna say from something with coaching OL to coaching TE) but now that he's beaten OSU - even though he's taken some lumps at Oregon and was questioned and criticized in the past while with the Ducks -- us UM fans want him.
 
This is why I asked. This was said in a thread a while ago.

Mario was the man for the job when Richt retired. This was actually a destination job for him.. and he earned. Now, Manny is learning on the job

I have never heard of Cristobal choking out a rival coach on the recruting trail.

Honestly, that seems crazy and there has been no evidence introduced to support that.

He sat through one of Onofrio’s recruiting evaluation meetings and left immediately afterwards

Because Al Golden is a F*** Shop. I remember hearing a story about Mario on a recruiting visit at a West Palm HS and incident happened and Golden didn’t stick up for him and believe he got in trouble. And Mario left because he knew all those guys are idiots. Mario was there to meet a recruit after the game and the HS coach bumped Mario for another coach to speak with the recruit and Mario wasn’t having it, he blew up at the coach and was a scene. The coach called Golden and complained and Al got mad at Mario.
