Who A&M Reminds Me Of

Looking at A&M’s film and body of work, they really remind me of the 2017 Hurricanes, with a worse defense.

Marcel Reed is similar to Malik Rosier, in that he is also inconsistent in the passing game. Since their LSU game, he’s got 10 TD and 6 INT. He does make up for it with mobility on the ground, but it is astounding how many reads and open guys he misses.

Additionally, A&Ms D is not without issues. Arkansas scored their P4 season high against them. Utah State and UTSA were able to move the ball on them.

They were in dogfights with LSU, Florida, and South Carolina. They have a habit of playing down to their competition.

I think this will be a good game on Saturday, but it is worth pointing out that this A&M team is a bit of a paper tiger, having avoided playing the top half of the SEC, and having been in a number of dogfights this year. As Texas showed, they are not the powerhouse we were led to believe they were earlier in the year.

And like 2017 Miami, I do believe there’s a high possibility of them being exposed once they play better talent and competition.

Not a huge indicator of much of anything maybe, considering their pass rush and all which can neutralize the QB, but I was noticing how they've only faced one QB that would be more efficient that Carson this season, and he put up a ton of points (Carr). Outside of that, not many are in the top 25. For whatever that is worth.

Rosier? Thats crazy, idk about that take. Cause I like Rosier he to me is a legend regardless of his talent, but if Reed is MR then they wont be able to even move the ball on us. I seen some Reed highlights and he can actually throw the rock on the run and do other things.

I can say this much. If A&M goes down 30-3 to this team, they might as well get ready to start spring ball.
Dont agree, they have shown all season to be a good second half team and played well in 4th qtr.. We have shown this season to dominate to start games and let off gas n 4th qtr..

I think Reed has 10 INTs this season, same as Beck, if I’m not mistaken.

Lost in the shuffle is that Reed has thrown more interceptions, on fewer attempts than Beck has this year. I keep hearing about how Carson could “implode” and how he’s “prone to throwing interceptions” but the guy on the other team throws more of them.

This is an obvious point, but if we limit the run game, we win. Reed is an elite athlete and a good QB, but he feeds off the run game. They're averaging nearly 200 a game, I don't care if that's against second-tier SEC competition, still impressive. I don't like how V Tech ran on us; they just couldn't finish drives. TAM will not have that problem. We have to slow down the run game.

So they’re frauds ?

Do any of you think Miami gives up 30 vs USCe, 42 to Arkansas, 25 to LSU? We know Miami didn’t give up 40 to ND nor 17 to UF.

A&M is smoke and mirrors. They got away with not playing Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, Vandy, and OU. The only win they have vs top 25 CFP is ND and boy they lucked out on that ****.

Eff A&M. Paper champs. Fool’s Gold

The most we've given up this year is 26...in OT. In regulation, it's 24. TAMU fans saying they'll score 35+ on us is a bold take.

The great Ahmmon Richards said he looks like a 1 read QB only

Also our 2017 Canes team did actually play D. A&M is 41st. Get em Carson.....

You are both correct. Not only do the have the same number of INTs, but they have the same number of TDs. But yes, the attempts - and thus completion percentages - are the difference, with Beck obviously being much better here. (Interestingly, their average yardage is both 8.7, but that's not that important.) We do know that Reed is better with his legs though.

This narrative needs to die, we DID have a propensity to let off the gas. But ever since SMU that has changed.

Over our last 4 games, In the 2nd half we’ve averaged 19.5 points (compared to 18.75 points in the 1st half )

On defense we have allowed 7.5 points on average in the 2nd half (compared to 2.5 points in the first) mind you that Nc state & Syracuse scored last minute touchdowns against our 2nd/3rd string D, our STARTERS allow 5 points on average in the 2nd half (7.5PPG when our starters are playing over our last 4 games!!!)

If A&M goes down 30-3 at halftime they will QUIT. Don’t be surprised to see them become rattled if they go down big early. This Miami team isn’t SC Lmao, any other conference opponent they played this year holds a 30-3 lead imo. SC sucks.

I expect our defense to take them by surprise, actually, I expect our TEAM to take them by Surprise. Do they realize that we controlled ND/UF far better than they did ? The attitude the SEC/Big10 have towards the ACC is incredibly pretentious and you can see it in their interviews. Miss me with that “oh they got confidence” because I know WE have confidence but you don’t hear that subtle (or not so subtle) chirping do you?

This will be the best DL, scoring defense, Rush defense & 3rd down defense they have played all year statistically. This is the 2nd best defense at forcing turnovers they have faced by a wide margin (Miami is 13th, Texas is 7th. Next closest is South Carolina at 37)

Our offense will move the ball, I’m not so sure theirs will or can.

I was literally about to post their home games this year lol it's a joke

I'm normally not superstitious but I have been thinking and afraid to say what @FL Cane's wrote. There are puts and takes. But I think A&M is good not great, and their success is roughly similar to our 2017 run.

Direct comparison, IMHO

A&M offense > our 2017 offense overall
A&M OL >> our 2017 OL
Reed >Rosier especially in arm talent, though he is inconsistent and struggles with pressure
Concepcion = Berrios, advantage A&M with other receivers
Herndon > any A&M TE
Walton > A&M RBs (except the injured one who would be equivalent but is gimpy)

Our 2017 defense > A&M defense across the board IMO
