MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Police are investigating a videotaped altercation in which an apparently intoxicated University of Miami football fan slaps an officer, who then punches her in the head.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email Sunday that the department is "gathering all of the details to gain a clear understanding of what occurred" during the altercation at Hard Rock Stadium during Miami's win Saturday over Virginia Tech. He released no specific information.

A video posted on Twitter shows three officers carrying a young woman wearing a Miami jersey.

She flails at one officer and misses, then slaps him in the face. He hits her in the head with his right fist, causing her to crumble in the officers' arms as she is carried out of camera range.

Why did the cop punch a woman who was clearly under control and being removed from the stadium?

It's this kind of stuff that people are protesting.

Hes retarded, he should do his job and escort her out and arrest her thats it but most of these cats cant control themselves.
Your a cop u should be above that even though she wrong for doing it and deserved it.

For 20 minutes she fought with security and fans who tried to calm her down. She was drunk, on drugs, and hitting police officers. She got what she had coming to her.

But there will be loser fanboys who think cops should rough up people that they've arrested because, well, they're fake tough guys.

If it was two civilians a female and god forbid a black guy and the black guy knocks the bytch out everyone would be upset, so the same goes for the cop hes wrong end of story. Arrest the bytch and be done with it theres no need for the extra ****. Cops that get there feelings hurt easily shouldnt be cops

Your assertion is wrong.

Cops should not rough up people, people don't get a free shot at cops. If the cop responded inappropriately his superiors will deal with it. Penalties for a cop are more severe than if another fan had done the same.

If the woman feels she has a case she can take it to court and sue the department.
 
Why did it take four cops to subdue and carry the drunk lady out? Rather than punch her in the face they should have just planted her on the ground, face down, cuff her, and take her away.
