Many players come in their 1st year here and look good or even great, for example Shaq, Pinckney, McCloud, Couch, Harrison-Hunte, Bolden, Brooks, Jeff Thomas, etc., and then regress each year afterwards.

It’s pretty telling that a guy like D.J. Johnson is making plays at Oregon at any position that they put him in, and he couldn’t sniff the field here.

It’s time to stop blaming the players, and start blaming the men that are paid handsomely to put them in positions to succeed.

When you have a HC corch that runs his program that doesn’t even practice with live tackling (which is basic fundamentals), how then can anyone expect for guys like Gurvan Hall (who was a killer in high school) to not horribly regress?

At the end of the day, it falls on the HC. There are many teams around the nation with way inferior talent kicking *** every week because they get the most out of their players, and game plan to their players’ strengths. Danny Miaz and crew do exactly the opposite.

If Manolo is not terminated, next season most of these young ballers are likely to regress, and then most of you guys calling the veterans jags will do the same to these kids that are now flashing.

It’s time to cut off the head of the snake. Strawley, Flake, Manolo and the rest of the cancerous athletics department tards gotta go.

It bothers me every time I see posts mocking a junior or senior player who had so much potentials coming in but got worse during his UM career.
Fans should blame coaches, the adults in the room who are over paid to guide and develop those young players but fail to do so.

Why did Hall get worse while Jaquan and Redwine got better?

Why was Willis an animal here yet Ford and Miller have been duds?

Why did Brevin get better and Mallory regress

Why did Shaq/Pink always make plays and Mccloud had to be changed to a different position?

Ever think that some of the guys who we think are good coming out of HS maybe just aren’t?

There’s a difference between a 4* who’s ranked 280 and a 4* ranked 56 even though both players are considered blue chip players

We’ve been awful at key positions lately….offensive line and DT, now check out the recruiting rankings

Our highest rated DT the past 4 years has been Willis who shockingly put up monster numbers. Silva is the next highest and he’s had a decent career but was always limited athletically

Check out our offensive line recruiting and don’t be shocked at our results. The only high recruit we’ve had is Donaldson and he ate himself away unfortunately.

You think Nick Saban would turn Flagg, Steed, and Jennings into anything special?

You think NCS has more gifted players than Flagg, Steed and Jennigs?
I won't go back and forth with you on this. You do you. Lets agree to disagree.

Than those 3?

Yes

Steed and Jennings are both players coming off major injuries, imagine still thinking they’re gifted after that when they were never that good

Steed was ranked 600 by 247

Jennings 697

Flagg is a 5”10 LB ranked 830 by 247

So yes NC State has more gifted LBs than all 3

Thanks for proving my point

Yes a ton of playes have regressed because our coaching sucks and we don't play to our players strengths. We force a round ball into a square hole.

But come on, DJ Johnson is not making plays at Oregon, stop.

Culture of hard work vs the country club now

Whether we have a player development problem or talent evaluation problem, the solution is the same..need a new coaching staff. Starts at the top. I personally think it’s a combination of both.

BROOOO.... APP STATE HAD BETTER LBS THAN THE ONES YOU MENTIONED.
Better as coming out of HS or better after being in their system for 2-3 years? If those 3 players signed with App State coming out of HS they would play better 3 years in their system.
I'm having hard time believing that those players would not be taken by App State coming out of HS.

My point is almost every other program do more with less. We tend to do less with more.
Development and utilizing the best of the players you recruit is as important as recognizing talent.

Every team will have a few players who - no matter how good the coaching is - will not get better or even regress. But it is about the percentage of those compared to the number of improved and productive players on your team. We, tend to have so many more unproductive players who were 3-4 stars coming out of HS than most.

Just look at 2018 class which was ranked #2 in the ACC behind Clemson:

Miami 2018 Class

It had 14 recruits with 4* ranking.
How many of those lived up to their ranking and how many were "busts". If you tell me 24/7 evaluation is totally useless BS then I don't want to see their ranking used to make a point about only "some" players who shouldn't have been here because they had low ranking on 24/7. You can't have it both ways.

Either 24/7 composite ranking is a total BS or we just waste HS talent like nobody's business.

Now look at NC State:

NC State 2018 Class

Ranked #6 in the ACC.
They had 6 recruits with 4* ranking (we had 14)

Saturday, watch how their players from 2018 will do against our players from 2018.
We can revisit this after the game lol
