It's really a mess. With such a huge conference, what if miami and clemson are top five teams, but GT plays neither?
The conference is on life support and needs its top teams to make the playoff, attract eyeballs and generate revenue. But if you make the determination the two highest rated teams, and completely ignore the conference records, you're going to get a lot of blowback.
Keep the same standings, go head to head #1, unless one team is ranked more than 5 spots above the other, otherwise just go by the rankings. Get rid of all this common opponent nonsense.
