I know I can't be the only fan who is frustrated by our systemic inability to attract, retain and develop top-notch QB talent. This issue transcends Richt. In 25 years, we have had one (1!) bona fide star QB. And as good as Dorsey was--and as bad as Rosier is--I want more as a Canes fan.

I want a QB who is going to be good at the college level and at least a starter in the NFL. Why can't we attract that level of talent anymore, like we did so easily in the 80s with Kelly, Kosar, Walsh, Testaverde, and Erickson? I see a bunch of other schools recruiting good QBs and getting them into the league; why not us?

GO CANES!!

What the **** are you talking about? We have QB talent. They're our freshman and redshirt freshman. They're just not ready. Perhaps in these next 3 games we'll see if Perry or Weldon can step up. Williams is not ready because he doesn't know all the playbook and where to go with the ball in certain situations.

Rosier is from the Golden classes whether you like him or not. To be fair, The loss is NOT all Rosier's fault.. The horrendous punting in the 1st half giving LSU the ball at mid field every possession. Did you see all the penalties that killed our drives and the defensive penalties that extended LSU's drives. The lack of a running game put more pressure on Rosier. Speaking of pressure, Rosier was under pressure all night. To Rosier's fault, when pressured, he would step up in the pocket (good thing), but would not set his feet which is why we saw the same over throws as we did last year. Under the heat of the fire, unknowingly, people revert back to their old ways.

LSU had all summer to prepare for Miami. What was telling is that LSU's D coordinator said Miami had no intermediate passing game. The announcers were shocked that the coach would share that with them. That part is completely on Richt. Too many deep balls like the Pitt game. Where are the intermediate and short throws. LSU threw short and intermediate routes most of the game. They did connect on a long throw for a touchdown, butA threw very few deep balls.

If you look at the stats of the game. Our offense played better than LSU in every category except turnovers and rushing. LSU out rushed us by 70 yards mostly due to that 50 yard TD run and the negative yards taken off by Rosier's sacks.

The careers of our underclassmen remain to be written. I am not saying we can't recruit "talent." We've recruited plenty of "talented" high school QBs in the last 10 years, like Jacory, Kaaya, Wright, Allison, Freeman, etc. My post is also not so much about last night's game, though it is surreal that Rosier is considered our best option at such a crucial position.

I'm just trying to get to the bottom of the severe drought--25+ years--of QB success at The U AND the NFL. Like I have a yearning for our guys to be that good again and to be associated with that kind of success, just like during our heyday in the 80s.

Obviously geography is a factor. Not too many legit QBs come from So Fla or Florida in general (from the ones mentioned in my original post, only Craig Erickson was from Fla). Maybe poor QB coaching once they get here is too blame. Maybe bad timing, as in we've had the talent at times when our OL sucked (sorry Jacory) or were on probation? Or maybe we have too many fine women in Miami for a QB, AKA Mr. Big Man on Campus, to focus on football LOL (in which case we are doomed LOL). Or maybe I'm completely wrong! I'm curious to see what others think. Thx.

Been saying it since the Spring game where he was clearly the best QB. He's very natural back there.

Fans are in a complete overreaction. If we had won, would everyone be making the same negative comments? What is true today was true before the game and regardless of outcome.

30 years ago, everybody else was running the wishbone. Miami was the only "pro style" team.

Nowadays, we have to compete for the top QB talent
