Let me start by saying that I think the Walton thing is greatly overblown by the media. The officer almost seemed like he found pleasure in arresting a high profile canes player. The media had no better stories to report on than some 18 or 19 year old who made a youthful mistake.
With that being said, what would his punishment be at an SEC school? Now that Richt's gone from the SEC there is no SEC coach who would care about this. I think a big statue celebrating his crime would be built on campus at Gainesville or Tuscaloosa. Nick Saban might briefly pretend to suspend him so that he'd have one more scholarship to use for oversigning. Once the season actually began Saban would mysteriously reinstate him.
McElwain would instruct Walton to cause a 10 car collision next time he goes drunk driving. Maybe he'd order Walton to run 10 extra laps for not creating enough havoc during his DUI. Butch Jones would tell Walton to commit rape next time he's thinking about committing a crime.
What would the other SEC coaches say?
