What is time stamp of play he is talking about?

All 22 Mensah throws

You win in the trenches and we ain’t doing that dawg. It’s only about to get harder and harder and playtime is over. If the interior OL doesn’t get it together, what we seen for a quarter and a half last week is going to turn into 4 quarters.

We need to run out 4 WR sets and spread these teams out to help the run game. These compressed looks are not working
These condensed formations are all Mario not saying that it’s bad. It’s just his offensive philosophy.

Brutal sequence here.

1st down throw to Jacobs at the LOS.

2nd and 8 concept. Not a soul with separation when the pocket collapses.

3rd and 8 and running mesh into the teeth of their dropping zone. No clear windows, and probably better served getting Lofton off the field and running 4 Vert.

Very tough three and out here.

Talk me through this, @skyman.

3rd and clear passing down. Bunch to the field side. Barkate is isolated to the boundary. He gets zero separation (one of the plays I mentioned and people told me I was wrong that he was struggling to separate on key plays) and not even a glance anyway from Mensah. Concept isolates Lofton (??) on the fade route.

What exactly is stressing the defense here? Maybe hit Moore in the middle of the field with anticipation. If I'm playing DB against this concept, I'm not stressed out nearly as much as I should be.

- Jacobs or Wingo should be where Barkate is lined up.
- Barkate should be in the bunch lined up where Lofton went

Now you've given the defense problems.

I think this is the series Dawson was talking about backed up for 70 yard TD? on that first play, I dont remember us running an RPO bubble wit no blocker before, dont think Jacobs is a make you miss type or break tackle at 175 pounds..

The 3rd down I dont know also..

My theory is since our defense doesnt cover middle of field and our LB have no responsibilities in pass coverage, that convinces everyone in practice that Lofton is some elite talent and he can do crazy things on field but in games he not like that.. During game I thought he missed Moore with the natural rubs on play.. But maybe fade to FB sized lofton is just to appealing..

Dawson want guys to strain when he giving Barkate alot of Cardio routes.. Did they watch anything from duke? No layups available?

We love to say our offense depends on what the defense does, but any defense will change what they do if you start bombing to Jacobs or Wingo on that boundary or replace Lofton with Barkate in the bunch and get him some of his Duke routes. Glad it’s on tape. Adjust.

I will keep an eye on Louisville and see if Brohm lets ****ert defense dictate their explosive play.. Will be interesting to see, I get it but if our only answer is to throw jump ball fades to Lofton..

Barkate was WR1 at Duke, he was 2nd team All ACC. Only Malachi Toney had more receiving yards than he did last year in conferemce. His 7 TDs was tied for 2nd in conference. His 72 receptions was tied for 4th. His 13 reception 172 yard game against GT was the top performance in the ACC last year. He abused Clemson for almost 150 yards.

He is hardly a Greentree All American.

He did that all with Jonathan Brewer as OC. Dawson needs to do a better job with play calling/design.

Brewer did a good job in many instances. Said that before the season. Last year, he had some fantastic concepts. Barkate should live in the intermediate areas and breaking off combination routes. Throw him at boundary and ask him to roast someone? Eh. Gonna get at best mixed results. Considering we have better options to do that, yeah, bad planning.

Idk what it is, I really dont care.. You need to figure ways to get the kid the ball.. We cant take 3 portal wr and they all bust.. Just unacceptable, Was told he had spot on lock prior to season, they push all other guys to the #3 spot, one kid becomes disgruntled and is pushed out door, the other is getting like 3 snaps a game. And now we cant figure out a way to make it work? This kid was productive in this same conference, with same QB..

As a coach you have to put players in favorable positions, if you telling me Brewer was doing something amazing, I see him scoring in slot fade, corners, slants, etc. This kid made plays against everybody, dig routes, etc. We cant go all season with one wr offense and checking to Lofton fade offense, refuse to believe this is where we at.. If they cant get this kid going this weekend.. Noise gonna get crazy, they already clowning the kid.. No one wants to hear excuses when the results are there.. Its just not acceptable lol..

It’s the twilight zone. Duke. I’ll repeat…… DUKE schemed this kid wide open. Dawson has him out there running wind sprints. Alarming

Don’t have to tell me. I’m not suggesting a fully one WR (slot) based offense. I understand emphasizing one thing over another, but there are plenty of opportunities.

I’m suggesting they put players in positions they’re best. Surely, you acknowledge the difference between Barkate running corner routes against a Safety and digs as part of an entire concept vs what I showed in the boundary on that screenshot above.

Also, as you mentioned above, I don’t really understand Jacobs running screens when he spent most of last year successfully running vertical routes.

So yeah, let’s get it together fast because our QB is freakishly accurate.

I agree with all above. I remember in one of the interviews they asked Barkate what was different in offense and he said they dont really move him around.. Just having him backside basically from action and like mentioned running Cardio doesnt seem ideal.. Im sure he wants to move around but that piece is centered around the slot.. Which yea I get but we have 5 star recruits and their dad who specifically said he wants to see how we use other WR and not just slot.. Figure some **** out

The three portal wr and no portal guard or center… sorry I m trying to be more positive 😂

Well... good news (/s) is now without Josh Moore we are likely to ask him to do more of that! lol
