What people are saying about Miami’s win over Virginia Tech

******* ridiculous:

I think deep in their hearts the Hokie and the antiUM contingent know this wasn't a catch.
Notice that they are relying on the "you just can't overturn that TD without indisputable evidence".
This is like the guy who gets busted with bags of what appeared to be cocaine in their house and disputes legality of how the Swat team broke his front door.
Solid analogy.

josh pate who is usually a huge pro canes person just said VT got screwed

didn't say anything super negative about us, but that was disappointing to see as it was clearly not a catch

I think most people are falling back on policy over why was it overturned rather than wondering why it was called a TD in the first place

All these ppl including Josh Pate talk out of both sides of their mouth constantly when Georgia survived against Kentucky "but you found a way to win" but with Miami it's oh eventually your bill will come due in regards to a defeat.

There really is little point in listening to these ppl unless they provide content that is specifically from a tactical stand point.

I think what even well informed people may not understand is that the refs likely called it a catch under the premise that the catch was secured on the ground in the scrum and the ball did not touch the UM player that was out of bounds prior to being controlled.

The refs never thought he came down with it. They thought he controlled it on the ground then it got ripped out by UM. In the video it is indisputable that the ball was loose on the ground and was touched by a UM player that was out of bounds. So if you are the ref looking at it from the perspective that any evidence the out of bounds UM player touched it before it was secured on the ground then that angle would confirm it incomplete indisputably. This was their exact explanation.

And not properly applying the rule on players out-of-bounds who touch the ball prior to a completed catch.

To be honest, I don't care whether Josh Pate is pro-Miami or not, he is honest and fair enough to be able to do the proper analysis of the play.

I am sure Pate is one of those idiots that say it even though it should have been called an incomplete pass from the start, since it was called a TD there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn. Problem is there was very clear evidence to overturn, it just doesn’t suit their fake narrative.
