Alvarez has said he won't consider candidates who lost out to Gary Andersen in 2012 (Al Golden was not among them; he beat out Andersen but did not take the gig). Al Golden is an asset for any institution.
With all the candidates being paraded by the media, none of them, not a single one has the presence of one Al Golden. These guys cannot walk into a room and command the atmosphere the way Al does the press in Miami or elsewhere. Moreover, Al Golden is very organized and a straight shooter, and that's why Alvarez old Boss loves about Al, and don't worry about the game stuff: Wisconsin can spend money and get the best coordinator their sold out stadium can bring. D'Onofrio won't be a candidate for the Broyles award, he will win Broyles at Wisconsin. They look at UM fans as being a bunch of spoiled brats...delusional fans lamenting about old lost glory
IF Al wants the interview, he's gonna get it. Heck, Donna and Blake wants the man to stay: there are clear reasons for that. They all believe that Al is about to turn that around! If Alvarez BOSS believe in AL, why wouldn't Alvarez? Guys, just wait until all the media frenzy cools away, Al will clear through the smoke and have a chance to illustrate his pillars that supports a new 500 page binder. The new binder will include how he turn a bunch of 2-3 starts recruits into 5* NFL draftable players. I'd hate to be the man that interviewed Al Golden, cause you'd hire him on the spot after hearing his very sincere speech of how he'd lift the Badgers to contest for championships...You can't say he's not ready NOW to do championship contention. One word here when you see what class he has put together after the cloud:
