What Happened to MR?

Anybody knows what happened to the Mark Richt offense that averaged 33 points PPG as a play caller against Miami from 1994-1999? When MR said he was taking OC duties we all assumed he would bring the fast break spread offense here that we saw worked well and got slowed by SEC refs when he took it to UGA.

This is not a comedic shot at MR inferring that he went missing. I'm literally dumbfounded (and I know I'm not alone) on why there is such a glaring difference from his FSU OC days. Did Bobby Bowden call plays?

That was 20-25 years ago. We also didn't have internet **** back then, things evolve. Except Mark apparently.

could be this and how can you run a fast break style offense with perry and malik calling the shots?

Doesn't matter who the QB is. I'd imagine we'd still have the same frustrations in terms of pace on the offense, even if we put in JW whom likely has the higher upside of all the QBs on the roster.

Its called time and u have to adapt or get left behind

That's the thing though...His fast break offense worked and looked different than what we're seeing on the field today.

Like I said in the OP, Richt tried running this offense at UGA his first couple years and the Refs ****ed him over and literally made rules to stop it.

ACC doesn't have those rules, we rarely see our offense go no huddle or quick.

Defenses have evolved and the X’s and O’s as a whole. Richt has not. Not even motion to give the QB a pre snap read. Nothing.

I have not seen one shred of evidence that SEC refs made rules to stop Richt. Instead, I think Richt changed after joining the SEC. Miami does not get big physical players like Bama and UGA and that is Richt's problem.

Don't worry. Mark is still trying to call those plays from that era. He just needs every DC on the schedule to go back in time with their call sheets too.

Mark got this

first thing richt said when he got here was "wheres the miami speed?"

Can't find the article. But you don't need big physical players to run a fast paced offense.

This is a completely different offense than what he ran at FSU in the 90s.

But I also believe he wasn’t running his actual system - it was more an extension of what Brad Scott created before taking the job at USC or wherever he ended up.

That offense dominated because of Warrick Dunn, Peter Warwick, Charlie Ward, Sammie Smith ..... they simply had better players than just about everybody save UM. Fast forward 25-30 years later and he doesn't have the same advantages. OSU, Bama, Clemson, OU.... and more are all dividing up SFL talent. His understanding of X's and Os never evolved to compensate for parity talent wise.

FSU under bobby was not bama level but it could pretty much out talent everybody.

Go watch clips of old FSU games he ran like 10 plays back then
