They say the offense with King is legit and we could be back...

But as we’ve seen over the last decade and as Herbie pointed out. And a program and fan base we haven’t handled success well.

I love that he have a memo to the team to stay focused on the work ahead.

Look at our DC and some on his staff.... does Baker look to you like a Championship DC? If your goal is a national championship or even the playoffs, then hire coaches that will take us there. Championship should be the focus.

Otherwise be happy with "we beat Louisville " type wins and an occasional ND beatdown .

In a few weeks, Clemson will expose our defense....

I have confidence that Lashlee and King will keep us competitive but Baker, Patke and Rumph .... they will look like intermural staff against any team in the top 5...

In other words, hire championship coaches on both sides of the ball... if that is your goal. Otherwise it will be a yoyo , up one year, down the next.

This team is not without issues but **** that offense with King/Lashlee is fun to watch after enduring Enos and Richt type offenses. The maturity King brings to the team and the way he handles himself we haven’t had in years from that position. And Cam not taking the TD rings...wanted OL to have them....these guys are true leaders.
 
I am hoping this is that 99’-00’ version of the Canes and maybe a bit better. Think they went 9-4, Gator Bowl, finished top 15 I believe... King staying for another year would set the program up for a ton of success.

We haven’t faced a legit defense yet. Louisville has one of the worst defenses in the power 5, and UAB actually has a solid defense but they aren’t a power 5 team. As bad as FSU is, they still have some elite players on that defense. Wilson, Samuel, etc. then we face Clemson who has an elite D, and Pitt who has a good defense as well. Our WR’s need better start showing up.
 
I hated when Herbie said that crap.

What happened in the past means nothing. We actually have a real QB this year and a OC who knows how to prepare his team and adjust as the game goes by.

This team can only get better with more snaps and more routine.

It is not like any other season.
