What about Doc Holliday for agruments sake??

Say Golden gets fired. Thoughts on Doc Holliday from Marshall?

1. Relatively Cheap: He makes 600K + incentives a year currently, so a buyout would cost UM roughly 2 mil (3 years + some incentives)
2. Great Recruiter: When he worked under Urban at UF he was named one of the Rivals top 25 recruiters in the nation
3. Knows Florida well: Worked under Urban's regime. Has 20+ players from Florida on Marshall's current roster
4. Winner: 2 bowl wins with Marshall. Won division twice. Once again part of Urban's regime. Almost undefeated season this year. Had one rough year the second year after taking over a brutal Marshall program.

Thoughts?? I researched this in about a 20 minutes so there could be some glaring issues that I missed, but I figured I would be an interesting conversation to have.

Better than Golden. Golden had no resume after he left Temple. No recruiting history of Florida and we still hired him. At least the guy has a resume and with the talent we have its hard telling what anyone with any football knowledge could do here.
 
Why not? 11-1 at Marshall is **** good. Also, we all know Urban is a good coach and if he has Florida ties, why not give him an interview?
 
The thing that really stuck out to me was the 20+ Florida kids. That's a lot of kids he convinced to go spend 4 years in West Virginia. I can't think of many things/people that would convince me to live in WV for 4 years.

For a lot of those kids, it was either JC or Prep.

"During his time at North Carolina St., Holliday coached three of the top eight receivers in school history: Koren Robinson, Bryan Peterson and Jerricho Cotchery. 11-1 this year so far. Seems to me like he's done a pretty good coaching job no matter what position he's been in.
 
He actually isn't a terrible name. A lot better than some of the other names being tossed around. Urban went to UF from Utah, BEFORE Utah was in the PAC 12 and relevant. He obviously was successful at UF.

I agree with WeOWnFSU- no recruiters, but this man is 11-1. He has to be doing something right. The man might just be a good coach. The crazy thing is no one will know until they take a chance on him.

He isn't a top 3 choice, but if Butch, Stoops, and Rich Rod, all say no, then looking into a guy like this wouldn't be a terrible idea.
 
Schiano (after his alleged "soul searching," Chud, then Butch. The guy from Wyoming (North Dakota State) and this guy from Marshall are decent prospects too. I love the Florida connections and role he played at UF. He must be a big time coach....Other names to throw in would be Pat Narduzzi and Rex Ryan.

Doc Holliday is a clown whose specialty is recruiting kids that can't qualify at real schools, and out talenting the terrible schools he plays because of that. That's it. Anybody who has been following this stuff for a while knows his MO. Notice how he's never been a coordinator at any level in his life?

bc that's the only school those kids could attend. do you actually think they chose to go to Marshall with a bunch of options?
