Curse of the Orange Bowl (or HRS Indian Burial Ground)?--I don't know, but the things that transpired last night were crazy:

1. Mendoza grows up a Cane with parents who were athletes for UM; we don't offer, and he goes on to win the Heisman at Indiana and beat US--his childhood team--in our first appearance for the NC since 2002 in Miami on our home field--the stadium which he used to go to OUR games at--no less.

2. D'Angelo Ponds, on the winning int, gets to do the "U down" in front of our fans, as have so many other SFL players we've let get away in the recent past have done.

3. The game-sealing interception was made by Jabari Sharpe, nephew of Glenn Sharpe--the former five star corner who as a true freshman was victim of the infamous call which cost us #6 in 2002 against OSU. After the game, Sharpe went on to tear multiple acls in subsequent seasons before kinda fizzling out with the Canes--only playing a few years in the pros with the Falcons before ending up in prison. The Sharpe family gets to exercise their demons against Miami--have no idea how Glenn would feel about that tbh.

4. The price of tickets allowed us to be outnumbered at our own stadium. It's not why we lost, but contributes to the narrative that we got punked on our own field--and honestly we kind of did.

You can't make half of this stuff up! Fvck Indiana, Fvck the Mendozas (they should be pariahs in Miami from now on), and I hope we get to play them next year in the playoffs and KILL them!

The way their "fans" and players have behaved have made me want revenge like we got on OSU this year.

There are a few things that I wouldn't call curses, but just consistent bad luck since they happen so often.

1. Timeouts-on Offense, we usually come out of a T/O and get stuffed and end up kicking. On defense, we tend to allow the 1st down, big play, or TD coming out of the T/O.

2. Penalties- We pay for them DEARLY. it seems like the smallest of penalties either stalls a drive on Offense, or saves a drive for the other offense and they get points.

3. Mistakes-We also pay for these dearly. When we drop ints, seems the other team scores at a very high clip. When we dont go for it on 4th and less than 2, we kick, the other team goes on to score. That's not really a mistake...but you should understand what Im saying. Cig had the balls going for it on 4th and 5 2x and was rewarded.

4. Kicking: Doinks......we miss them them....other teams make them....like what the actual ****? Every kicker we face is the second coming of Lou Groza kicking 60 yarders.

Extra Credit: Hopefully, our days of making average QBs look like Heisman contenders are over.

I want to see us back here next year--I want to see Mario hold the trophy for #6 at some point. I want to see if we take this, use it, and grow from it as a program. I want to see us waltz through the ACC leaving a swath of destruction.

Kids from the crib are always gunna kill us. Just the reality when there’s that much HS talent down here.

You nailed it at the start. We tore down the OB and Joe Robbie built stadium on Indian burial ground. Can’t overcome that.

You see “curses” and bad luck. I see poor execution and weak discipline.

Black magic didn’t get that punt blocked into the endzone. Cursed families didn’t cause multiple drive extending penalties against our defense. Hurt feelings didn’t cause that field goal to clang off the upright.

Small mistakes at the most important times are the difference between winning that game 24-20 amd losing 27-21.

We're not cursed.

We're close.

Triple down on investment.

Points 1 (Mendoza) and 3 (Sharpe) are hard to discount. In fact, they are so strange it would be hard to make them up.

Simple as that. Nothing complicated about last night. They played smart and disciplined as they played all season. We had guys ******** up as we had all season.

I get you, but someday in the future, one of these players’ son or nephew are bound to end up on the opposing team. It’s a mathematical probability. We can’t control that, or keep every legacy home. It’s just not realistic. The team that matters is the one we have. We just have to play better. Indiana did not have 5* on their team, but had exceptional coaching. Mario needs to take that page, if he is to succeed above what he has so far.

We are not cursed. Miami has played in twice as many national champ as we have won. The bounces didn't go our way. Just keep getting to the game.

We're not cursed. The rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. The joy comes in the morning. After the darkness

Be a man, pick yourself up. Process oriented over time yields results.

With all the bull**** in the game, more outside zone lol, Ethan stick your hands out, they came down with so many contested catches, blocked punt (never thought Id see that with our punter)

We were still one play away.

Ive lived and will die with this thing. Its not built on sand. We will win number 6 and 7

You can’t honestly believe that Miami is the only school that doesn’t sign every single hometown kid.

Exactly. Miami just happens to be in an area with an abundance of talent. Some develop later on that end up at other schools.

It’s the same in Ohio and California and Texas. Those schools don’t get them all either.

It felt like the end of the world when lost the 1985 Fiesta Bowl to StatePenn.
Talk about disappointments, we were vastly superior in talent and the stats in that contest
confirmed it.
But yet we came back.
If you want to talk heartbreak, you should have followed our baseball team during the 1980s
and 1990s. Some of our better teams having disappointing end to seasons whereas other teams
with less expectations winning titles.
Life happens.
We move forward.

We can’t sign every single two star kid in south Florida just in case he turns out to be that rare diamond in the rough.
