Week 10 ACC Matchups

Gee thanks.

Then tell me what tiebreaker Miami has over Virginia currently, other than the fact that Virginia hasn't lost an ACC game and they beat a team we lost to?

Obviously if Virginia wins out they get in ahead of us. That's not a tiebreaker because it's not a ******* tie.

So assuming Virginia loses a game, then it comes down to strength of ACC schedule which we have over Virginia.

Here's a video with a guy who has spreadsheets and ****.

Tiebreakers don't mean anything right now because this is almost certainly going to come down to winning percentage of conference opponents, which still has a ton of games left to go.

There are a few ways head to head could come in (GT goes 8-0, Miami and Louisville both go 7-1, everyone else has 2+ losses), but more than likely this is going to come down to who has the hardest schedule in the league, essentially. So, it'd be nice if the teams on our schedule can win some games. Right now (obviously only 3 out of 8 games in) it ain't great. FSU and Stanford ******* blow.
The combined winning % of our conference opponents is higher than GT, UVA, and Duke right now. So we're probably good.

So if Duke handles UVA and those 4 and us win out... we would be in, most likely. As long as UVA and GT don't both win out and as long as it's not just us h2h with Louisville or Virgina at 7-1. Us with both of those and we'd be in.

Need Clemson to handle Louisville and Cal+Duke to handle Virginia and we can handle Pitt/SMU to clear that path.

I don't think you assess the criteria as he did based on 4 teams and then eliminate the team with the lowest winning % in that scenario and then see if the other criteria applies to the remaining 3 teams. I believe in the event of the 4 way 7-1 tie, the 2 teams with the highest win % of conference opponents would go.. which would be Miami and Louisville.

Edit: just re-read that section and he's right. It does go through and re-apply. My god, that is stupid.

How is that possible? FSU hasn’t won a game since the Eisenhower administration.

I guess I didn't realize Stanford won 2 ACC games.

Sad to say but I find it hard to count on clemson for any help on the field this season... I don't think Dabo has announced a QB for this week yet.

They'll lose another game just because of Miller Moss.

Clemson steadied out last year at the end of the year. Expecting the same this year. Still talent on the roster.

As I did last week, here are the only games that matter:

Duke @ Clemson (-2.5) Noon -- Duke is 3-1 in the league. A loss here eliminates them from Charlotte. Clemson is already eliminated.

Louisville (-10.5) @ VT 3:00 -- Louisville is 3-1 in the league and has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Miami. I continue to maintain the best possible scenario for Miami is being 11-1 and missing the ACCCG, but I understand the desire to win the league. If we want that to happen, VT upsetting Louisville would be very big for us.

UVA (-4.5) @ California 3:45 -- UVA is undefeated in the ACC (4-0). Go Cal.

GT (-5.5) @ NC State 7:30 -- GT is undefeated in the ACC (5-0) and will be favored by more than this 5.5 number in both of their last 2 league games. On paper, this is GT's toughest game remaining. We need Mr. Bailey to do work

That's it. This is a 7 team race for Charlotte, IMO (anyone with 2 losses is done). We play 2 of the teams, and we know for this to even continue being a weekly discussion, we need to win out. So that 7 team race is really 5. Miami, GT, Louisville, Duke, and UVA. We need 3 of them to lose (Duke plays UVA, so one of those will take care of itself). May as well get it out of the way this week.

TrumpyCane can easily see Cal and NC State winning, Cal with the better chance

Pate has Ga Tech on upset alert vs NCST this weekend. On his upset meter scale it's an "8".

Reason: NCSt has the ACC leading rusher and Ga Tech is ranked #87 in run defense....

He picks Miami to win but not cover the 10.5 spread. Says he's nervous about this game - gives it a "7" on the upset meter

GT losing to NC State and Louisville losing to Va Tech. Those two things happen and we're back in control if we win out.
I bet if those 2 lost this week we would’ve already lost to SMU @12. That just our luck in this conference

Yea. It's fun to play out scenarios but I don't have much confidence in Miami to win out, given how they've played the last few weeks. Hopefully they find another gear at the end here.

It’s not that I don’t have confidence it’s that the team always finds a way to let me down haha
