Wednesday Night Sports Buzz

we only have 6 dbs...and we're being picky on who we're recruiting at that position in our own backyard????????!!! that's a fireable offense!
Do you even understand the basics of a roster and how many corners a team should have? How many would you like us to have? Especially since we're down a few ships a year.

6 is fine people. They are all experienced and we needed help elsewhere this year. Was not the point of the discussion but mopers always find something to complain about. 7 is a good number maybe... MAYBE 8, anything else is a waste. They have a commitment and are targeting more now for recruiting. It's fine. And all the ones we have are good. Not like we have any duds

Edit. I take it back. I still think 8 and beyond is a waste. So we're maybe one short. But there are non redshirting so who cares

Classic Folden trying to keep the expectations down. What a loser.

He's whining about only having 6 CBs, yet we have a great rotation there that rivals anyone in the country.

Then, he can't even admit this team is better than last year because he doesn't want more heat in case he talks up the improvement and then loses.

What a disgrace. Just shut up already, whiner.

Man yall took a 3 quote excerpt and literally went to town in this thread! Was it that serious? Are we now not only breaking down film to its smallest detail but also every interview done by Al and whomever the opposing coach is?

Who gives a ***** either way? ***** Jimbo. (although i dont think he meant to diss us. Most people who have half a brain will admit this years team is more talented this last years. We just dont need to hear that **** from a rival coach)

And why do yall think Hope and Dortch left? Cuz there were 6 DBs ahead of them and they were never going to get any PT. Period. Lets not make something out of nothing here.

That's a fabrication about taking a large hit in scholarship reductions. We counted 7 against the 9, and pretty much all 7 were from attrition. We've been signing full classes the whole time and losing an inordinate amount via attrition.

That feeble slap on the wrist from the ncaa will have zero impact on the amount of guys we sign because we can count guys who leave on their own or get kicked out against the 9 total, and no one ever carries a full 85 all year.

Attrition is the reason that Larry Hope and Nate Dortch, both corners, are no longer on the team. We had to be short handed somewhere to get the sanctions behind us. If not CB what position would you have liked to see short handed?

CB is one of the easiest positions for a true freshman to make a early impact. IMO it was smart to take the hit at corner because of the amount of experienced guys on the roster as well as the abundance of talent at the position in the 2015 class.

So because Hope and Dortch happened to be CBs who quit that means the ncaa scholarship reductions hurt us? I don't get it. How about all the other positions that quit our got kicked out?

There is no way, you can be a smart person.

Great reply. Not surprising given your attempt to link players quitting or getting thrown out to ncaa sanctions. I guess Blue, Figs, Olsen and the countless others lost to attrition were a result of sanctions too.

Hope and Dortch were both shown the door. Getting below 79 had a lot to do with the staff parting ways with those guys. The point is in order to drop 7 ships there had to be some casualties and CB was the position that took the big hit.

There are currently 76 players on ship 9 below the NCAA max of 85.
According to the sanctions Miami had to reduce 9 ships over 3 years. With a minimum of at least 1 ship reduction per year. This means that Miami could drop 7 this season, 1 in 2015, and 1 in 2016.
Before Figs, Blue, and Olsen were kicked off the team, Miami was sitting at 79 ships (6 below the NCAA max of 85). So if it wasn't for their off the field trouble they would still be on this team.

In order to get to 78 what seemed to be the magic number for this season, several kids had to go. So Hope and Dorcth got caught in the numbers game. Doing this helps this team get past the sanctions at a much faster rate n

Don't you agree that it is smart to go light at CB this season, knowing how deep 2015 and 2016 is at that position in South Florida?

I don't think Jimbo meant to diss us. He really meant it, and it's clear for everyone to see IMO. And they are worse than they were last year. That equals to more equally matched teams. In any case people are missing the point on the CBs, we have 6, 3 are upperclassmen.... That's means they can all leave after the season.....that is not a good thing at all. I don't care about numbers and NCAA that should never happen to us in So FL. And that's the same thing that was happening under Randy.

Classic Failed Franchise trying to make up agendas for Golden when all Golden did was typical coach speak like every single other coach in the nation does. He can't even admit that not everything Golden says has to be turned into some negative, mopey, bull****.

TOTAL BS on your part....The game is won before the teams even take the field. Folden allows Jimbo Fisher to set the narrative EVERYTIME. Losers mentality.

You honestly think it matters one way or the other to anybody other than fans?

It matters when your team comes out like they are scared to hit the other team...folden should at least have these boys ready to MAN up. So yes it does matter.
