we paid too much money in the secondary for off coverage

we finally have size and length (pause) but we don't challenge guys at the line ... free releases without rerouting ... a consistent theme of playing not to get beat this year ...

I have no problem with off coverage.....what do have a problem with is not knowing basic football down distance and the playcall.

It drives me crazy to allow a free release especially on 3rd downs when you know time in the pocket by the oeverything is at premium. Qbs throw to a spot or to the first down stick and we allow it everytime.

Why is the team so scared of getting beat over the top is beyond me.....especially when we bust coverage ALL THE TIME!!.

As much as I love Hetherman, I'm not a fan of our passive approach in the secondary.

The amount of times we play off and/or bail is frustrating to me. Leads to easy completions on the outside.

For us... bail is a purely situational call... and it's rare. Even in "off" coverage, we kick-step so that we can drive/break on "quick game" (hitch, slant, etc) Once the WR has established himself as going vertical, the CB can run out of his kick-step.

Miami's Corners bail like they're receiving the baton in the 400m.

No reason to play so passive with big CB's who can run. Particularly frustrating seeing as both starting CB's are my kids. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I've been perplexed by the same thing this year. Like wtf is the thought here? Didn't Heatherman press everywhere else he's been?
no this is usually what happens when you get dcs that coached at smaller schools or schools with less talent.,...they actually think their dbs still have less talent. they take a wile to adjust....

heatheran appears to use that off covg on supposed dual threat type qbs cause he loves sending that delayed blitz at them as well.

you think the pass rush is a monster now ... imagine if when the qb does a three step drop he has to hold it because we're jamming/rerouting at the los ... you force the qb to make a tougher throw towards the sideline vs slants and crossers

I've been wondering why we are not tough and physical given we have 6'2" CBs.

probably also a reason we haven't had more turnovers
