$4M isn't a big buyout compared to Mario's $10M price-tag.

Also, Richt saved Miami by not putting UM over a barrel and retiring. UM obviously paid him something—but avoided the $20M+ buyout that was in place.

Had Richt not left a lot of money on the table, the $4M buyout for Manny doesn't exist, smart-***.

Yes, the University of Miami has money thanks to adidas and the TV rev-share deal as part of the ACC (as well as the new ACC Network)—but UM doesn't have a burn rate that SEC schools can afford, writing eight-figure checks without blinking an eye.

$4m vs $10m buyout, and would have to pay him more than the $2.5/year he's slated to make at oregon (which is what i hope the ceiling on manny's contract is with us right now). if we're taking unproven head coach commodities, i'll take the one we know.

That 4 million was more than many qualified coaches with HC experience. Blake James is the figurehead of a clown show athletic department.
Don't doubt that Diaz senior and DiMare were pulling strings to get this done. James is useless.
 
Someone on here claiming to be credible said Diaz wasn’t signed yet so no buyout. No idea if true.
