We are the U!

It's been obvious for a while that this program is in dire need of an *****—as the entitlement class after class seems to get worse, as the University of Miami gets further and further away from relevancy and glory days.

Posts like this are a reminder this fan base is in need of equally as big a realty check.

Whether it's living in the past, not understanding how UM cannot complete financially with football factories (resulting in second-rate coaches, ADs, et al) or this cucked attitude so many have regarding guys like Martell or Thomas and their supposed legacies or talent level—it really is a fun era for non-Canes who couldn't stand Miami being on top, as the fan base is spiraling as bad as the team.

"The U" ... the chains and rings .... the "swag" ... all are relics. UM needs to stop talking and start doing, as everyone has lost their way. Canes still have a "brand"—but it's a facimile and this program needs to go into reinvention-mode just as went into invention-mode back in the late 1970's under Schnelly.

Back then the Canes were nobodies. These days, nothing more than has-beens.
Unfortunately all of this stuff is true..

I love ops post and it being about the U.

But the "U" is becoming played out. The school, coaches, players, continue on now year after year. . Of not trully understanding what made the "U". It was being told your not good enough, it was hard *** work, passion, grit. It was about overcoming every obstacle in your way. Determination.

It's now becoming only us fans that remember the past. We literally got beat by our last honest good head coach by a team that is a whole subdivision lower than us. He not only beat us basically straight-up, he beat us with essentially midgets.

He old Caned us.

All these big money schools are playing chess. Miami ain't even playing checkers; it's going Chutes And Ladders style, while missing half the game pieces.

Pretty soon we'll be lucky to be playing Candyland...

Chutes and Ladders was a great game.

I remember one of the first huge upset of the :neonu: was when East Carolina had endured a real hurricane, had to move to a neutral field and they upset the :neonu:. I have to admit that watching them celebrate their victory after suffering through a bad hurricane was emotional for any viewer because they upset the bad guys who were the :neonu:.

Whenever any team beats the :neonu: it is an historic accomplishment therefore EVERY game we have a target on our helmets and uniforms with the :neonu:. Our team needs to realize that when they wear the :neonu: they are representing all of the famous and notorious players in our history and EVERY TEAM that plays us is going to play their very best game of the year.
Until our current players recognize what the :neonu: represents to opponents we will continue to suffer unbearable losses. Would we celebrate if we had beat FIU, no way but did fans notice the glowing expression on Butch's face when they beat the :neonu: or the celebration of the FIU fans.
The :neonu: will continue to be a huge target and until those who represent the :neonu: give efforts worthy of wearing the :neonu: we will suffer unexplainable losses. It should never happen against teams where we are favored yet we get a maximum effort when we play the gator, the noles or the irish. That type of effort needs to show up week after week if anyone expects us to be champions again.
Saying IT'S GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE doesn't mean diddly unless you perform and ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE!

La Tech would love to smash us will get lots of accolades if they do, we need to take care of business and move on as if they are trash.
You’re living in the past. Even LATech isn’t impressed by Miami right now. All they’re thinking is how embarrassing it would be to lose to a team FIU beat.

We are just as good as :neonu: mediocre fans accepting 6-6 seasons.

Find a fan base that wants to write checks the way alum do at big time state schools with 40K undergrads—and you'll have a start.

Miami fans want a mansion, but this program can only afford a tract home.

Georgia just dumped $200M into their program—the majority of which came from alumni-related donations and fans supporting that program through donations, as well as undying support—living and breathing Bulldogs football, showing up every Saturday in droves. Same stories in Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, Auburn, Columbus, Ann Arbor, State College, Gainesville, etc.

Miami has 11K undergrads in a pro-sports metropolis—where most UM fans aren't alum and don't write checks back to the program. When things go south, they check out just as they would on the Dolphins or HEAT.

Fans wants to talk about ACC rev-share or adidas money—great. All these other schools get massive SEC or Big Ten money, as well as massive alumni financial support. Georgia's Magill Society had 1,100+ new members in 2018 at a minimum donation of $25,000-per-head—on top of what they're already raking in from their alum.

Miami better figure out how to do more with what it has, as it's never gonna see the financial backing that will result in a $13M coaching staff salary like Georgia sees—or their NCAA-leading $7M annual recruiting budget.

All these big money schools are playing chess. Miami ain't even playing checkers; it's going Chutes And Ladders style, while missing half the game pieces.

The fans did not hire Manny after 3 minutes after the last coach left
The fans did not lose to FIU
Fans did not hire Golden or Shannon and let them stick around years after it was clear they were awful.

The school with five national championships now cant win becasue of money. They could never spend the money other schools do...yet 5 championships.

How about stop wasting money.
How about they do their job and get a real coach after a real seach.
How about stop wasting time with awful coaches...head coach or otherwise.

this nothing. that is complete and total horse****. the U is one of the most recognizable brands in the country, still incredibly popular despite the laughing stock the football program has become. if these nincompoops on the BOT would put some effort into the sports program, hire accordingly and front the budget necessary to hire a top line staff, they could absolutely clean up.

OP is some kind of troll from the Hecht.

Yeah, of course FIU will celebrate beating Miami. We're the local ACC team that dominates the local media.

I'm sure that Louisiana Tech will be thrilled after they beat Miami too. They relish the idea of beating an ACC team. Although they'll care a little less than FIU does since they're not in the local area.

But, honestly, GT, UNC, etc. don't care any more about beating Miami than they care about beating any other ACC opponent.
