WAY TOO EARLY TOP 25 PROBLEM AREAS

Even bigger concern from 2015 was being dead last in penalties per game and penalty yards per game in the country. We likely beat Cinci, FSU, and Wazzu if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot, kill drives, and help the other team move down the field at a ridiculous rate.

Agreed! We had no discipline at all.

What's even worse, was the emphasis that the staff publicly put on it every season, and it never got better. I really think that was a reflection of what little respect the players had for the staff. They just didn't care enough to focus.

Yeah, the red zone play is "a reflection of the lack of respect the players had for the staff". I swear some of the dumb *** stuff that gets posted here.

i swear i never saw a team go to the 1-3 yard line more than Miami last year and struggle mightily to score. I would pull my hair out when Coley would go shotgun from inside the 10. It was a mentality issue. Coley would stay finesse all the way to the 1, we weren't programmed to line up and kick the other teams asss, and would often commit false starts because we were on our heels.. can't wait to see a change there

Each top 25 college football team's most daunting statistical hurdle

Wow, we attempted FGs more often then any other FBS team last season.

On the flip side,we had one of the best Turnover ratios and I'm concerned we wont be able to duplicate that favorable stat.

I think the 8 wins were deceiving last year as we could have easily been a 5-6 win team.

While I agree we were the most penalized, it can be said that we also lead the country in BS calls that teams we faced didn't get. From the bogus targeting, to holdings that didn't happen. We had more TDs called back last year on calls that other teams wouldn't get than in any season I can ever remember. Remember how Duke took the lead on us? Seriously? Yeah, we lead the country in penalties because the ACC bent us over, repeatedly, last year. Yeah, we can clean things up, a lot, but if the ACC continues to call such bogus crap on us, it won't matter.

Could've just as easily been a 10 win team.

Preeety sure Jake was talking about the penalties stat from the post before his....

Horrible HC, really bad OC, bad Oline for pushing the LOS, lack of a true "big back" for tough inside yardage, soft staff = soft team. I think we had short yardage problems with Vinny too for unfathomable reasons. I am certain Mark will try to fix this by being more physical on offense.

FACKING THIS.

There were definitely some BS penalties, especially the Deon Bush targeting call against Nebraska but the offensive line was so undisciplined they were good for 4-5 penalties a game. Mostly drive killing false starts and holding.

We were a sloppy, slovenly, uncaring bunch of slugs who quit whenever the chips were down. That was all a reflection of the team's lack of respect for the coaches. The team had long ago given up on Folden, and it was obvious in the way they played and how easily they would quit.

If Richt can fix that attitude and approach we will win 10 easily. If that's the only thing he fixes we win 10. Fortunately, he's also going to be an infinitely better playcaller, and the DL will be improved 100000x.

We haven't had real any coaching in a long time.

I had never seen that pic with him wearing google glass before. The level of douchebaggery of the previous staff was ridiculously high. Can you imagine what Venables and Dabo had to say about those clowns after the game last year. Thanks God for Richt and the new staff.

Go Canes!

That was also very obvious but it's that way every year. That issue will likely work itself out because we have Richt on the sideline. He'll get more respect from officials than Al Golden. We are still Miami, so you can expect it every year, hopefully not at the rate we had last year.

Even take away those penalties that were bs.. I'd be willing to be we were in the 90s or 100s in penalties and penalty ypg. Too many false starts and I'd expect that to be fixed just because guys can trust their ability because they aren't so fat and slow that they have to be right on time to catch a block. Also, Richt is going to discipline his team more and that should clear up the idiotic unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (Coley 2 times that I can think of just to name a few).

Terrible offensive coordination. Too often we allowed defenses to adjust to our play calls because of that dumb "check with me" crap and brad trying to draw defenses offsides with cadence.
If we get to the line and call the **** play it will eliminate most of the false start and holding penalties.

You never see lsu, Bama, or osu come to the line and do all that bull****. Line up and smack the defense in the mouth before they can get set.

There is so much a coordinator can do to help his offense and hide the holes. Between personnel groupings, formations, and playcalling rhythm coaches can do a lot to help a team hide weaknesses.

Coley did none of that.
