Was anybody excited when we hired Manny in December 2018?

i remember this board that weekend he was hired. Many found ways to be excited but overwhelming majority were devastated because of Blake James incompetence. Myself included. I was willing to give it a chance because what other choice do we have..... Manny did some decent things here. But he is a terrible head coach and needs to be shown the door. Along with Blake James

I was! (Honestly)....I thought he would have been a bit better than this!
I was still hopefull,..as he made changes, throught the years!
I saw a man, take out a rope, and tie his own Knott, when he thought he could manage a ball team/organization, and be DC, while still within 5 yrs of OJT, at any head coaching level!!
And now,..it seems we're watching the effects, of a self lynching!
Sorry!

Was a horrible day for Canes football. I remember saying in the thread on here. "It's over boys". And sure enough it has been over for Canes football since he has been here.

No, I wasn't excited. We should have learned from the previous disastrous hires and take the gift that Richt gave us and used it to re-launch our program. But nope. Our woefully inadequate AD made the laziest hire he could possibly make. If the AD thought that was a good hire, and I'm sure he did, it clearly means he doesn't know anything about the sport of collegiate football and should clearly not be making these decisions.

I think most of us were surprised was Manny, but the complaint in 2018 was that Richts limp-**** offense was the crutch holding us back. We assumed Mannys defense would at least maintain a top 15-30 ranking, but it went to **** when Goldens players left the program and he had to rely on the guys he recruited. Here we are.

Come on OP, you know the answer to that question....NO ONE was excited by the hiring of Manny as HC. He was the DC of the prior regime who just had their $h!t pushed in again in a bowl game against Wisconsin and they still hired him.

As a Dolphin fan, I can see a similarity between the mismanagement by the Canes and with Stephen Ross. Ross does things half-a$$. When it is time for a change, instead of doing a wholesale change, Ross just changes one piece of the puzzle. One year he gets rid of the GM, but keeps the Head Coach, 2 years later he axes the Head Coach and keeps the GM. When he fires the GM, instead of getting a brand new guy with experience elsewhere, he promotes Chris Grier who has been with the organization through 20 years of bad drafts and free agent pick ups.

Everyone here has a hard on for getting Manny canned. Why the rush? The guy that needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY is Blake James. Thank you for the fund raising and facility improvements, but you cannot hire coaches and that is a huge part of the job. If you fire Manny with Blake still in charge, what do you expect to gain? Fire Blake now, hire a new person by the middle of November so he/she can research and hire the new head coach of the Canes in the first week of December.

Manny deserves to be fired for the loss to FIU, the continued lack of discipline on the field, and lack of preparation in most games. That being said, I do recognize that the team does play hard for him and he has had a rough patch of bad luck at the end of the past 2 games.

We have complained about the undeserving upperclassmen getting time on the field when more talented and hungry younger guys are on the bench. Manny has finally unleashed the younger guys. However, with younger guys, you know you are going to be lacking experience and making mistakes. In the past 2 games, you have seen those mistakes, but they are playing hard. The Canes are playing a redshirt freshman who at times cannot hit the broad side of a barn (sorry TVD hopefully you will improve your accuracy, but right now, you miss on some throws that are really bothersome).

It is pretty annoying to think they are 2 rough endings away from 4-2 and played with Michigan State through 3 quarters with a QB having a blown out shoulder. In any case, you're 2-4 Manny and need to go, but Blake needs to go first.
